Forums - Nintendo - Put a fork in the Wii U, it is done. [Sensible discussion only, no flaming]

I like how this thread comes out before we even get to see the results of actual new games coming out for the Wii U. OP is probably like, "I see the games drought has ended, and we have no information on what has changed in Wii U sales, time to put a fork in it, Wii U is doomed."

It's Over , I would also like to add the fact that the online infrastructure Nintendo has is an abomination and getting laps ran around it by 7 year old consoles

"I can't even make out you are saying anymore.  I meant 2 million for the year.  Again instead of rambling, actually look at the data I suggested.  The Wii and Wii U trending data is what made me finally come to these conclusions.

P.S.  Don't worry I will resorect this thread when I am right lol"

It's ok, some of us have good reading comprehension and some of us still read at a 3rd grade level.  Don't worry you will get there eventually, you actually said that the ps3 was selling 2 million per month and that they would get over 100 million during this summer, but whateves, if you meant the ps3 will sell 2 million for this year, that's fine too.  It's completely irrelevant to the argument, so idc.

Honestly, I have no idea what you are talking about, you keep throwing out random data as facts that make absolutely no sense, if the ps3 only sold 2 million this year I would be utterly shocked, but you probably didn't mean that either even though you said "i meant 2 million for the year" were you referring to the wiiU?  Do you think the wiiU will only sell 2 million?  Or the wii? or the ps2?  At anyrate, how am I suppose to look up "data" when you clearly have no clue what you are talking about, provide links to this data, don't tell someone to look them up, especially after your pathetic attempts to have a "sensible discussion only, no flaming" which apparently means, not reading someones posts, but arguing against a point they didn't make, then calling them ignorant for some random reason.

P.S.  You can resorect whatever you want, because no one was arguing against whatever point you were attempting to make lol.

15-40 million

That's not too bad for a Nintendo system.

NES: 62

SNES: 49

64: 33

GameCube: 22

I don't think it's bad for the system either but it's definatly not what people expected coming off of the Wiil... Just look at what everyone was saying aboutthe Ps3 during this generation "Lost the biggest user base yadda yadda yadda." I'd also would like to point out the gaming as grown awhole bunch since NES and SNES so getting less than those isn't a good thing either. (I think it will settle around SNES)

I think the main reason the PS3 gets so much flak is because it lost two generations and over a decade of Sony dominance to M$, who could hardly even have be considered a true competitor in the PS2 gen. The Wii's success, on the other hand, was primarily due to their Blue Ocean strategy, which is really only good for one gen.

Sony never "lost" 2 generations...

LOL I just checked my post again to make sure.  I said the monthly trends show it will sell 2m.  Of coarse I didn't mean 2m per month.  Only an idiot would think that...

Here's how you look up data.  There is this website called VGchartz.  It's a pretty cool site where you can check graphs of sales every month compared to previous months in the charts section.  Check it out!

P.S.  I read at a 12th grade level in 2nd grade and I am in the top 0.1% in reading comprehension now [Studying Mechanical Engineering in College].  I am gonna guess you are near the bottom of the top 50% in writing for people your age.

Can someone please answer me this.....When the PS4/720 sells 1/2 - 2/3 of what the WiiU has in the same time frame, will they be doomed as well??? Just wondering.

Lol are you serious ? If PS4/720 sold 50% to 30% of what Wii U sold up until now while selling on all 3 markets it would be an disaster of epic proportions. A failure that would indicate the market for consoles has vanished. Thats 1-1.5 Million Units in 6! Months thats like first week for Wii or PS2 (All 3 markets combined). The console age would be over.

Combined this gens market bought 250 Million Consoles. Wii U is obviously not filling the gap that Wii, or PS2 before that, left so it must be done by Sony or MS or both together. Or the market has shrunk considerably. Doom Threads would dominate forums and websites everywhere, games would be cancelled. Developer would start to panic and shift their focus to mobile/pc. This would be literally the death of the console market its not like PS3/360 haven't seen massive declines by now.

If PS4/720 sell 1.5 Million each within their first 6 months they are on the track to sell 5-25 Million LTD each, very very unlikely. If they sell that combined.. Thats like impossible. Wii U sells 25-30k/week that would mean PS4/720 selling 7-15k per week worldwide. Combined or each wouldn't even matter.

PS3 360 have an active fanbase which likely will all move to PS4/720 eventually. Wii died a long time ago.

someone is going to say it so it might as well be me..

if only sensible discussion is allowed please delete your OP.

after this I got nothin more to add.

It's not done but it sure as hell isn't healthy. First year jitters are one thing, what is going on right now is another.

Buyers just aren't buyin it. They should have made the WiiU, slapped a cool controller on it, then waited two years to put a tablet on it. Right now people are buying their own tablets and the WiiU just looks complex and ungainly to people who's first console was a simple, fun, easy Wii.

Troll Title [no flaming]

An excellent strategy.

On topic: games sell consoles. Wii U will get games. It will sell then. Not on Wii levels, but it'll turn a good profit.

You're right. Nintendo's new system is tanking horribly. It's only somewhat more powerful than Sony's previous-generation effort, has almost no good games and a 'gimmick' that supposedly adds nothing to gameplay, and is going to be demolished by an upcoming competitor with a stronger lineup that is orders of magnitude more powerful than it. This new system also has the benefit of maintaining the online accounts people have become so attached to.

Yes, the 3DS is so screwed when the Vita comes out.

-The 3DS has a cool gimmick while the Wii U's clearly hasn't connected with its base as well.

The 3DS' gimmick isn't much of a selling point anymore, it is selling based only by virtue of its games.

-The 3DS IS stronger than the PSP.

Wii U is stronger than current Gen, it already plays great ports, in another year it'll do significantly more powerful stuff.

-The 3DS WAS screwed, but they reacted effectively and SONY fumbled around with the Memory Cards.  SONY seems to have learned, and the Wii U's priice cuts will be countered by PS360 cuts.

Just like the 3DS was affected by by price cuts of the PSP, right?  If the Wii U will be undermined by current Gen price cuts then mark my words, so will the PS4/720.  Next gen will have by far the slowest start in video game history.  People are very happy with current gen graphics and aren't falling over themselves to get all the new stuff.

Listen, man, your argument is terribly flawed.  Everything you said that dooms the Wii U are attributes of some of the most succesful consoles in history.  A lot of what you say just proves that in the end, the Wii U is no different from many other succesful systems.  Stop trying to DOOM NINTENDO. In the end you will be proven wrong just like every gen and then you'll have to wait till next gen to start this up again.  Just quit while you're behind.
