No, I didn't.  Stop trying to tell me what my intentions were.  Dude called a woman less shapely than the "supermodel" type too curvey.  He didn't like feminine women.  He started talking about androgynous FF characters.  Why am I being lambasted for asking if he was saying that he's gay??????

What's more disturbing than anything is how people can take the most literal question and spin it as an insult.  You're about to make me whip out Cos again ...

I guess if you weigh the humor against the actual text... it can be perceived more to be leaning towards an insult than actually trying to make a clever humorous jab. Because to me, if you were trying to be funny... it fell very flat... it more easily just reads as a verbal insult, like you are using 'gay' as a snide/snarky remark, not engaging in any witty reparte... Not saying your intentions are so, but if you forget what makes that funny to you, then maybe you can see how that context affects the weight of the post itself?

I'm kinda weirded out by this... to me, gay originally meant 'really happy', and then somewhere it became homosexual (or always was?)... but to me, it also means 'lame' or 'not cool', without either of those contexts. I have no idea if you meant homosexual gay or 'lame gay' and it's sometimes too hard to tell, but with the context of the quote, it's easier to think you were talking very directly about homosexuality... and not in a joking manner... but anyway

Example: If someone says "What is this gay?" or "That is gay"... I think 'lame', nothing at all about sexual preference... maybe because that's how I became accustomed to it being used as a casual slang term. Though, I'm sure some mean to use it to insult gay people and put them under an umbrella label that says 'lame' (i.e. not fitting in) that you theoretically don't want to be put under at the same time... so I can understand the desire to stop that conflicting/oppressive message from being injected there.

It's just so weird how that word can have so many meanings. We need just need to stop reusing words and come up with some new ones...

Even the Gamespot forums in the System Wars section & the systemwars.com forums lets people say anything that they want.

NeoGAF is a great forum to read up on gaming news but I rarely, rarely ever post in OT because there is no telling what kind of depressed mod/backseat mod you're going to offend with any type of post. They also go way overboard with the LGBT or whatever brigade.

Two reasons for the possible ban one you post a giant GIF with Bill Cosby in it. Two using gay in that manner in not really appropriate.

if you bring up the word "gay" without clarifying you don't mean it in an insulting manner, but in this case just to say "into men", then that's usually a 50/50 ban chance, depending on the mod
