Conegamer said: I also went through to see what effect the 3D Mario and Mario Kart had on the 3DS, as well as the price cut. 3D Mario: Japan-106% increase Europe- 62% increase USA- 35% increase Mario Kart: Japan- 77% increase Europe- 17% increase America- 34% increase Price cut: Japan- 5,146% increase Europe- 296% increase America- 301% increase These games (including Zelda) and price-cuts were well-introduced in order to try and turn the tables with the sales figures. Nintendo seem to be hinting towards a similar (well, identical) scenario for the Wii U, so I don't see why it can't have a similar effect. |
The reason why it can't have a similar affect is because we can't compare HandHelds to Home Consoles. Or, at least, that's what I've heard.
OT: As long as 3D Mario or Mario Kart come out this year I think the Wii U will slightly edge out the PSV. If both of them come out, I can see the Wii U having an OK lead over the Vita, this year. And if Nintendo decides to push marketing and drop the price, then I see the Wii U pulling quite a large lead over the PSVita.
Now, I expect Sony to drop the price of the PSV, but that'll only really help it for a few weeks. After that, the numbers will most likely fall to an average number. (Still much better than what it was doing, though.) I can only see the PSV outsell the Wii U this year if Sony drops the price, really pushes it marketing wise, and Sony gets a hold of a huge exclusive, or two.
