people really need to stop using other peoples opinions as a gauge for how much they may enjoy something

Current society, sadly, need other people's opinion in order to do so.

as you said its pretty sad i understand using reviews to have a preview of what the gameplay is going to be like for example but writing off something because of a review doesn't make sense imo ( unless its a very extremely situation where its broken )

God of War: Ascension and now Gears of War: Judgment bombed in review scores. The lower sales clearly reflected that GoW:A sold less than half the first week total of God of War 3. True sequels of popular franchises sell much better than mediocre cash in spin off games. FFXIII-2 and Metal Gear: Revengeance were deservedly well down on the sales of FFXIII and Metal Gear Solid 4 respectively. Spin off sequels are more deserving of being $30 DLC than a $60 full priced game.

No offense to your logic, but GOW Ascension gives way more as a total package than GOW 3 ever gave. Can't say the same for any of the other games you mentioned versus the main games.

Would you care to elaborate?

The multiplayer is deep and satisfying with a powerstone, mortal Kombat-esque feel. The games single player is harder than GOW3 and way more interactive (also a longer campaign). The character skins and models for the game are also varied very well. This game was all about level design and how the levels and puzzles interact with the player for a more satisfying progression. Kratos isnt as strong as he was in the other GOW games either. Reviewers also embellished upon how little extra there was for Kratos to do (obviously showing how much they really dont mix it up while playing GOW) in terms of magic. I have unlocked the magic for all of the elements in my weapons from Zeus, Ares, Poseidon and Hades and each have more than enough varied power attacks to go around. So far I have the Amulet of Uroborus (suspects opponents in time, and either decays or heals breakable levels) and the Oath Stone of Orkos (Creates an altered version of yourself that either attacks, fools opponents so you can get away momentarily or stays still to help with level puzzles.

I have to get back to the multiplayer eventually, but I should be almost finished with Ascension soon.

Wouldnt content also be part of the total package? Well if so then Judgment gives you more, but not by much.

Actually most reviews said the multiplayer is lacking and focuses on domination. If it wasn't for the two short storylines clocking up to 8-9 hours combined it would've been considered an expansion.

The multiplayer may be lacking compared to other Gears of War games, but it still has OverRun, Free-for-All, Survival, Team Death Match, Domination as well both campaigns that can be played co-op over Xbox Live.

Don't get me wrong bro. I am a Gears head and am just saying  what reviewers were saying together and its a mixed bag really. I will enjoy Gears regardless just like I am enjoying God of War, but out of the bunch but my point was as for the spin offs vs predecessors God of War delivered more than its predecessor. Its not about an inch or a mile, it just does and the multiplayer made up in spades for taking out the optional trials in GOW3.

I'm sure GOW fans seem the same way but these 6/7 scores are complete BS. Gears J is fun, its not as good as the previous trilogy, but it does not deserve anything below 85. Phenomenal graphics, great gameplay and it gets bat shit crazy at times, more intense than any other gears game.

you are aware that 6 and 7 are not terrible scores, right. Sub 5 usually means that game has broken elements and plays really badly but 6 -8 scores indicate that while it can be fun, it does not appeal to all audiences and not a fully worth the value unless you're the game's target audience. AAA game is not necesarily entitled to a higher score just like a student is not guaranteed an A on an assignment because of his past performance

This game falls short of the system selling AAA quality of the Gears of War trilogy.
