Saw the word "amazon" and realized what this was about, thread's a bit misleading. We all know sales trends on Amazon rarely correlates to anything meaningful.

Although the question is, does the WiiU HAVE to get the numbers that Wii did in order to be a success? Of course not. And of course, price will come down to it in the end. Sony MAYBE might have a bit of bite this time, but Nintendo has proven with 3DS that they can right a sinking ship. We'll see how it turns out. Meanwhile this is good news for us. |
Oh yeah. That's why I said I'm not with the 'doomed' people. Of course it doesn't HAVE to hit Wii numbers but with fewer consoles than the Wii, good pre-order numbers like this are going to have to become the norm, otherwise support will eventually dry up. Like I said, the test will come when the other consoles have released ... and of course when the Wiiu has a lot more games for gamers to spend their hard earned cash on. Ultimately support is going to be down to the Nintendo fans themselves: Wait for Nintendo's games and lose support; buy 3rd party games and get more support. We'll see, but I don't think this one game is enough to draw any conclusion with yet. Like I said, Wiiu owners are desperate for games at the moment.
The PS5 Exists.

I have to take issue with this. Average is the last word I'd use to describe Revelations. It's a gorgeous game with perfect pacing, outstanding mechanics, and a healthy balance of action and horror. To me it's the best 3DS game out there, and the second best RE game after Resident Evil 4.

Here's another juicy piece of victory for WiiU fans. Although it is still months away (May), Resident Evil Revelations is making some solid preordering progress. It's #4 on the top selling WiiU games on Amazon (meaning that it's still in the 500 region, but still good). And guess what? It's outselling the PS3 and XBox 360 ports. In other words, the PS3 version is WAAAAAAY down, selling at the #1,863 rank. It's #44 on the top selling PS3 games on Amazon. The XBox 360 version? It's #59 on the Best Selling XBox360 games, and in the #2738 rank. So what does this mean? It means that we have another potential hit for WiiU in the form of this HD port. Here's another reason to why the game is gaining traction on Amazon. It's cheaper. It currently retails at $39.99, while the PS3 and XBox 360 ports are at $49.99, respectively. Yet another sign of evidence that things are starting to tip the scales in WiiU's favor.

Wanna bet it ends up selling the worst on Wii U?
Really guys, really? Amazon ranks?
Wow... but OP keeps ignoring the fact that those ranks are meaningless

Off TV play is a joke tbh. Can't even get more then 10 feet away without it cutting out in my house. The only other place I'd like to play would be in my bedroom and it won't reach :.
This is awfully hard to believe, but I'm happy to hear it. I hope it's true cause WiiU need as many 3rd party good news as it can get.

GribbleGrunger said: The problem will be that the Wiiu will be sandwiched between the two camps. Bare in mind that I'm not from the 'Wiiu is doomed' group of people ... I think it will be fine. Having said that, I think that one of the reasons the Wiiu isn't doing too well at the moment is because a lot of people are waiting to see what the 720 and the PS4 have to offer. So those that CAN afford a little more are likely to invest in the more powerful consoles, while those that are a little strapped for cash could opt for either the Wiiu, PS3 or 360. The 360 and the PS3 could actually benefit from the Wiiu being on the market because a lot of launch game for the next gen consoles will have a 'this gen' version too. Here lies to problem for the Wiiu though. Will it get the 360/PS3 version of the game or the 720/P34 version of the game? This will be the ultimate test of just how powerful the Wiiu is and frankly, from what I've seen so far on the Wiiu and what I've seen so far on the PS4, the Wiiu is unlikely to get the next gen version. You may see 'some' improvements but not the leap next gen will offer. This will leave the 720 and the PS4 space to battle it out whilst the Wiiu will have to battle against not only 2 next gen consoles but 2 'cheaper' current gen consoles. Unless the pad becomes a HUGE factor in consumers choice, I just can't see the Wiiu getting anywhere near the numbers that the Wii did. |
On that point I have to mention Watch Dogs. The Wii U version is up and running while the PS3/360 versions have not even begun development (as of late-Feb/early-March). I think they might actually take the PC version and see what they can get away with on Wii U rather than going PC->PS4->720->Wii U----->360/PS3. Ubisoft is showing tons of support for the Wii U at this point, so it wouldn't surprise me if that was the norm rather than getting the PS3/360 version.
Honestly, it would be in every developers best interest to do the same seeing as all next gen consoles will be leveraging GPGPU capabilities. Porting up from the PS3/360 is a more time consuming/harder task than porting down from the PC/PS4/720. By the time those types of games come out, the Wii U should have a pretty sizeable install base, so giving them a crappy version wouldn't capitalize on that fact. Shoddy ports are the reason 3rd party games haven't sold well already.
However, I fully expect EA to do dicks about it and give shoddy ports or no ports at all.
I can't see any console getting the numbers that the Wii or PS2 did for a while. The gaming market is shrinking and the economy (around the world) is in the crapper. We'll need to see something pretty damn innovative to bring numbers that high. I'm betting on graphene personally.....that stuff is insane.
