Well it is about a robot thing turning into an even bigger robot thing. Lord knows Japan love their robots xD. Plus we have Square that told us to please be excited fpr E3. If it isn't Versus, it's bound to be something that is "Japanesy".

The problem is I don't trust Square knows what can get me excited anymore, at least when it comes to announcements. lol

It isn't bad, but it isn't good. They would have made money off it because FFXIII-2 wasn't built from the ground up. A lot of people were disappointed with FFXIII so obvoiulsy the next game wouldn't have sold too well at all. Even the ps3 XIII-2 sold much less than the original FFXIII. Less than half I think.

I think it's a mistake to compare it to XIII-2 just because that is the most recently released Final Fantasy. XIII-2's sales were depressed because of the mixed (leaning negative) reception to XIII. A better example might be FFX, which came out shortly after the PS2's first year and continued to be a strong seller throughout the system's life.

If it can just match XIII's hype, Versus would surpass XIII-2's lifetime sales almost immediately upon release.

As far as the rumor, I'm really not sure about Zeal's credibility.

If I were Enix, I might be getting rid of their Square branch right about now. This is going to severely damage the company financially as the Spirits Within did.

This is assuming this "rumor" is true and Square went crazy and canceled the original game and instead decided to make a new game with an insane budget, and in relation to the most despised Final Fantasy series ever created.

Yeah but at the same time XIII wasn't well recieved so a sequel to a ill recieved game in a franchise that typically doesn't have sequels (besides X-2) was bound to sell a bit less than most.

If Versus turns out to be an actual good game, I think people would give it a chance.
