I played the demo of Ascension only and it felt great. But I can say God of War 2 is the best in the series. But that may be because it was a greater sequel to God of War 1 and impressed in all areas.

How can he be a complex character when every iteration of GOW , kratos gets fooled teh same exact way over promise that never stands true when he competes the task asked byt he gods. I mean wouldn't kratos learned from mistakes after the first two games? The only reason why they have been so many GOW games because Kratos is stupid gullable chracters that naked women and tits can sway him in doign everythign which leads to him raging and killign everypne. 'personification of persistance and determination to reach your goals and seeing them through to the end." HOWS that work when he causes thes goals to happen. if he was smart enough he should have said no and not get persuaded by teh gods knwoign that thye can never keep his promise. Can't say much about ascension as i haven't finished the game yet. |
I never said he was the worlds greatest detective or multidimensional character. Kratos is not Odysseus, but yet hes found ways to survive the smarter of Zeuses more popular demi-god sons. Kratos is smarter than Hercules by default. God of War 3 shows exactly what the greeks said that huberis will be your fall no matter how smart or great you think you are. This can be said for the chase between Kratos and Hermes. He chased him for god knows how long until he finally cornered him and cut off his legs. It shows what kind of man you're dealing with. You see, Kratos isn't dumb he was a war general for the Spartan Army who soon follows his deity roots and becomes a god. Kratos solves puzzles and got out of Hera's labrynth where she assumed he'd be trapped forever even in death. He escaped Hades three times which not even gods are allowed to do with the exception of Hermes and Persephone in particular. Hermes is a special case and a trickster at that and Kratos served him his end well. If Kratos is gullible than a whole lot of people in the real world armed forces are as well. He's trained to take orders but when hes off the leash hes seen as a mad dog as any train military operative who goes on a killing spree would be seen as. As for the promise, Spartan soldiers died and paid tribute to their gods, no one is above them. If they say they can get rid of dreams you do the math. A gods power can at times be dependent on the worship of those beneath them. What would any greek hero who couldnt get rid of bad dreams do? Go find a god that can take the bad dreams away. Its as simple as that.

I also felt God of War 2 was the best.
The Barbarian Hammer felt very different yet equally statisfying to use as the Blades. In God of War 3 the weapons felt too similar, the Nemesis whip and the Hooks of Hades were too similar to the Blades. The level design in God of War 2 was also much better because of the mythological settings, the Steeds of Time, the Temple of the Fates, etc. God of War 3 featured a dark cave called the 'Laybrinth', it was pittful by comparasion.
The story in God of War 2 was really good, and it was a good lenght for an action game.
Just beat the trials on hard. Adam Sessler is a PUNK. It is NOT hard. You just have to be conscious of your surroundings and watch for those Medusas in the first wave. After that it is smooth sailing. Kratos has a friggin arsenal of moves, you just have to employ them right. I really have to wonder if Adam and the people complaining actually looked for chests to upgrade Kratos. lol It didn't even take me 20 minutes.
Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS
The worse god of war to date. Kratos feels sluggish, the AI needs tuning, combat was no where near as fun as it was in 2, and 3, the horrible sliding sections was used too much through out the game, and the weapons are weak as baby shit.
Other than that, the graphics are great, and the story is......ok. Very disappointed.
Todd Pappy screwed up god of war.

He could have easily avoided it if he din't fall from same trick thinking he willget what he wants from teh gods if he perform teir task. He got waht he desrve for beign dumb. because of his stupidity , we are getting flooded with GOW games.
" As for the promise, Spartan soldiers died and paid tribute to their gods, no one is above them. If they say they can get rid of dreams you do the math. " Thats understandable if it only occured in GOW 1 but to use the same excuse for GOW 2 AND 3 and the psp games is just milking their fans. It feels liek their insultign their fans because they can't be bothered in creating a proper story instead of reusign he same plot lol.
Wat else do you do in GOW aprt from seeing him rage , kill eevrythign that stand in his way and sex minigames. We saw that in most GOW titles. The worst part only in america would you find an american hero, that is able to kill immortal gods lol.
"God of War 3 shows exactly what the greeks said that huberis will be your fall no matter how smart or great you think you are." If that was the case Kratos should have done an honorable thign and killed himself after teh first game .

Loved your review man. We basically had the same impressions of the game. More or less. Storywise GoW:A is a huge disappointment me. Not a disaster but if you're gonna go back and tell the backstory of your storied hero (well, everyone's favorite anti-hero) you should of really served him up a rollercoaster ride of an emotionally epic story. Anything less is a disservice. Which this story, I have to admit, is. But gameplay wise (since that's what EVERYONE SCREAMS IS MOST IMPORTANT, God of War: Ascension is lightyears better than God of War 3--not hyperbole). |
I agree that the story is not done in a very emotional and elaborate way. But it is still good. D:

And also, what is more funny is that all the reviewers say they have played all the GOW games, because in every GOW game there is always a fight harder than the rest near the end of the game, so they should have expected that.
GOW1: Kratos evil clones
GOW2: The long corridor filled with gorgons cyclops, etc,etc
GOW3: The cerberus breeder and the 2 Satyrs
And I am sure that in the PSP games you have that too, but I dont remember D:

yeah I don't know if it's fair. 2 had so much to improve from 1 I mean just being able to move quicker on walls was a very noticable improvement lol. Also it had a lot more to work with as far as enemies went because now they've used up almost if not all of greek mythology. Interesting that there was only 1 chimera and no minotaurs in Ascension though. Since they were the first enemy you see in athens in 1 they've been a staple of the series. It seems the goats have replaced them in Ascension. Not complaining just noting. It is probably the most challenging one. The trial of Archimedes would've done well to have a checkpoint every time you clear a level instead of making you go all the way back to the start. I mean even if they kept your health as low as it was when you beat the previous level so it would still be just as challenging but not make you go through everything again. I had to be really cheap to beat it on hard. As in sit in a corner and block hoping enemies fell off the edge or getting in 1 hit when their attacks paused and going back to blocking. The final boss is probably the best final boss in a GoW game I have to say, though not the best boss period by any means.

that cerberus and satyrs had me ready to tear my hair out then when I did beat them I had almost full health and some magic left somehow lol. When I played one on God mode I had no magic when I got to the conveyor belt room right before pandora's box and I think I tried it for about 2 hours. I could not get through. Those damn harpies with their unblockable meteor attack were driving me nuts and when I finally beat it I nearly wept for joy and everything else seemed easy, Ares included.
