With the release of the PS3, Sony got a lot of critcism, that is still there today, for doing a lot of things wrong and not listening to the fans and the industry. Sony began changing this and PS3 prospered because of it as we see in the sales of the console and the support of many exclusive titles.

With the announcement of the PS4 we learned that Sony have been giving a lot of thought a consideration to the people playing the games by making the PS4 developer friendly and quite future proof. As a result, a lot of articles have been popping around from developers, gamers, financial parties and bloggers praising the PS4 and the future that awaits the console market. Add to this that the PS3 was released 7 years ago and a lot of people have been eagerely awaiting the Next-gen.

Now you'de expect that people, at least the fans, would have a right to be excited, hyped or positive about this! Instead we see some people are making thread after thread on how it's not right and overhyped to be excited for the PS4 and that people are getting too sure of themselves.

Is there a problem with gamers mentality these days? Can't we handle positive Sony news or are just people jealous that their own console of choise is not doing well or rather missing in action altogether?

The above link of the OP's biasness is one of the reasons why gaming still gets a bad rap from the lack of maturity from those who paint the false image in which gaming causes more harm than good. If you believe in a cause, you need to present it in a good light to establish its credibility. Hating the competition and badgering its fan is NOT presenting it in a good light. Gaming is awesome. Haters are not. You haters need to find a new hobby.

PS4 is getting positive news from many fronts, whether it be developers, journalists, gamers, analysts, etc... It is no denying that overall, since it's announcement that many people outside of VGC are excited about what Sony seem to be doing with the PS4.

However, you should not get excited about positivity. You should not be happy that for the first time in a long time we aren't getting non-stop negative Sony news. You should not be pleased that they are putting us gamers at the forefront of their vision for the console.

No, no, no. That is the wrong way to approach this my friends. Please, let me inform you on how you should approach this.


Sony sold a couple of buildings. Sony isn't doing great with their TVs. Sony isn't... *yeah, shut up. I don't care if that isn't related to PS4 or games at all!*

Point is that Sony is in dire straits. Things aren't looking good outside of PS4. We should focus on that, or at least bring it into the discussion.


So don't be excited. Don't be happy that there is a ton of positivity. Focus on buildings and TVs and allow yourself to see the truth.

Be miserable and just say *fuck it*. PS4 is doomed and retailers, developers, gamers and journalists are liars. This is what you should believe, until of course the PS4 hopefully proves that wrong and does in fact sell really well.

Then and ONLY then can you be allowed to show happiness and excitement for the PS4. So until the PS4 launches and we have numbers, do not display any positivity towards Sony or the PS4 please.

The fact that people need to come out in the first place should show who are feeling worried surely. Why do people not just enjoy games?

To answer your question, everyone yet no one should be worried. Why? Because its far too early to tell if people should be worried or not, yet the current trend seems to suggest the market is on the decline, and as such people should be concerned. Not just for a single company, but for the entire industry.
