Forums - Sales - February 2013 NPD Thread - 360:302k, PS3:~270k, 3DS:~191k, Wii:~100k, Wii U:66k, PSV:38k

So it was true that the Wii U actually sold around 100k units in January and NPD was adjusting for returns.

Did anyone freak out over this? Any meltdowns because the Wii U was over 60k in February? (Yes, that means I am too lazy to read the thread.)

Some people are confused on why it would sell more in Feb with no games compared to Jan. I tried explaining this to them but I could not word it right.

Microsoft always talks about current gen being X360, Wii, and PS3 - they never included PS2 in console comparisons for share, and aren't including Wii U now.

We don't know the splits, but I really think it's 130-150k for Wii and 280k-300k for PS3. Those numbers are actually pretty lousy for each system - February is the strongest of the non-holiday months typically (barring a price cut, new feature, or huge exclusive title),

And this is why I always comment in the NPD thread and never in the the weekly VGC sales threads.

Dont get me wrong I adore this site and the community but the tracking has litteraly become horrifically bad. If the tracking is this bad in NA just imagine what Europe and the rest world must be like.

Anyways my guesses: Nintendo 455k
So Wii U 65k ish
Wii 95k ish
DS 125k ish (still selling strong in US)
3DS 170k
PSV 36k
Wii and Wii U 160k so
PS3 275k
360 302k

Quoting myself! anyways I change my mind and think that MS is actually talking current gen as current gen otherwise DS just seems way to high.

So Wii 140k

PS3 295k

DS 75k

3DS 175k

i completely agree, the fact that we still have the 360 at 74.5 million sold is just insanely wrong. i mean we are mid way through march and there are still 1.5 million 360's on shelves that were shipped in december? no way

There is no evidence of Microsoft including Wii U in their X360 share - they are very specific to say current gen, because it implies Wii U is next gen, it's not trolling, when they have the new Xbox on the market they'll be sure to mention next generation console stats and current generation stats until the newer round of systems becomes the majority of new purchases. That's how it works in PR speak.

I'm pretty sure creamsugar's comments last month confirmed that the current gen comment was only PS3 and Wii. So, it's mostly likely PS3 290K-300K and Wii 135K-145K. Nice to see the PS3 on the tail of the 360's monthly sales. I bet when the PS3 drops to $199, we'll see it be above the 360 for a few weeks/months.

What do you think would happen if Microsft were to drop the price on 360?

The same thing that happened  when they cut the price by $50 during the holidays, not much.
