Forums - Nintendo - Square Enix bringing unannounced Wii U game to PAX East (Deus Ex: Human Revolution DC all but confirmed)

While I agree that it is most likely Deus Ex, even though it would be a moronic decision, I was digging a little deeper into Square Enix and found something interesting.

Crystal Dynamics is working on a new IP that was allegedly supposed to be announced last year. With Nintendo trying to get back third-party support for the Wii U, is it completely out of the realm of possibility that they got in touch with CD and Squeenix?

If they intended to announce the title late in 2012, it is possible Nintendo threw some money their way to delay the announcement until the launch dust settled. Granted, PAX East is a bit late, but Nintendo probably didn't see the dropoff coming.

PAX East is the largest event since launch and Nintendo knows they need to start pulling games out from behind the curtain sooner rather than later. SE still gets to announce the title in order to claim they are a 3rd party supporting Nintendo, and with 3 titles coming next week before PAX, Ninty doesn't need to have a ND until the week after. Agreeing to PAX ensures a timely announcement, and SE gets the glory of the reveal, rather than the rug being pulled out with a Nintendo Direct. Iwata did say he was eager to share what 3rd parties were working on after all....

Or course, this is all conjecture but it at least provides a bit of a talking point rather than just taking random stabs in the dark. Thoughts?

Square releasing an rpg of any shorts would be great for the WiiU.

And I think that is the only way to save the console. Noone will buy a brand new console with a tablet controller to play FPSs. The only way for survival is to make the WiiU an rpg power house.

Final Fantasy 15, which will be a full remake of Final Fantay 7 plus a prequel and sequel and you get to play Sephiroth.

I think this is a reasonable prediction.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

New IP or Final Fantasy remake.

It's Square Enix, so there's going to be a massive element of 'what the fuck are they doing' about it.

FF7 Remake

Man, Deus Ex would be such a waste. I'll expect that so I won't be dissapointed.

On the more positive side, we've seen most of the "leaked" WiiU games released or announced, with one of the few left being "Final Fantasy 3". A pretty cool anouncement would be Final Fantasy XIII trilogy. I would like to see something bigger, but I would expect those titles to be anounced at E3. It's not like they would be releasing soon anyway.

On a side note I don't want Chrystal Chronicals. I never got that approach. Why not just release true FF on every system. Why spend the resources to make a different game? Especially now that Wii U has decent power. If CC is released on WiiU it will make it seem like Nintendo's system is again the one that gets the weak token 3rd party support while others get the real game.

Its likely Dues Ex or one of the Edios properties. I'm assuming by unannounced, they mean it hasn't been annouced for the Wii U as opposed to a brand new game reveal.

In the best case realistic scenario it will be a new chrystal chronicle game in the single player vein of chrystal bearers. That would sell me on the Wii U, even though I've never played a chrystal chronicle game. I'd also prefer to Play Lightning Return on the Wii U, so hopefully that gets announced too.

Well  judging on the ps4 launch titles we've seen so far, its in a diiferent league to the Wii U. Square would not want a mainline FF to be held back by the Wii U, they've already shown their ambitions with next gen iterations with the Agni's philophy demo. Also having a console exclusives like FInal fantasy CC will do more to sell the system then having watered down ports of ps4/720 titles. At this point in time, I don't think the Wii U is in a position to compete with those next gen systems directly, but more sell itself as purchase you'll pick up along the way, or while you wait for ps4/720 to drop below $400.
