Forums - Microsoft - Michael Pachter chooses the Xbox to win the next generation

Well....

PS4 1st place confirmed? 627 84.96%

The Oracle knows it all!! 111 15.04%

Total:738

I caught a wee whiff of shite and thought the dog took a crap in the house but then I seen this fella had opened his mouth to give us a nugget of wisdom. Honestly this guy would argue with you over the colour of Sonics pubes.

NOTHING is confirmed for the nextbox.
PS4 has no price, final hardware design, hard release date.
WIIU has not had any of Nintendos hard hitters yet (2D mario notwithstanding).

The upcoming generation is still wide open and potentially the most exciting. The competition is more fierce than any previous gen and I cant wait to see what happens.

Around the Network

Pachter strikes again.

Sadly box office flop.

Lmao! Pachter at it again. He honestly thinks the NeXbox being a TV tuner and having Skype will push it to dominance? Skype IS NOT a killer app. The PSP had it and didn't crush the DS. Also, would he care to explain how MS is going to win without Japan from the get go and the NeXbox not having a 1 1/2 year head start in EU, which has always been one of Sony's strongest territories? Unless the PS4 is completely dead in the US, which it won't be, this isn't going to happen.

Win is a relative term. In the eyes of gamers, the PS4 will probaly win next gen. But in overall sales... that's a different story. MS may very well win next gen if they can pass their next-box as a "OneBox". For every potential gamer there will be another 100 potential media comsumers who won't care about games but would buy the box for other purposes. MS is positioning itself to capitalize on that whereas Sony is after the core gamer. Personally, i'm leaning towards Sony next gen but I can see MS winning the race in overall sales alone. We may have a Wii case again, where it won in sales but not so much in "gaming."

Even without seeing or knowing anything about the NextXbox, he already predicts it will win next gen!?!

I need some of that weed he's smokin..

We don´t know, he knows everything already, MS has a promiscuous relation with Pachter and showed every trick up their sleeves to the man. Why? If he says MS will win dozens of thousands buy MS shares, we gamers don´t care for the guy, but the stock market sure do.

Also, Pachter is kinda cool.

RIP 720.....

Around the Network

Very little is known about the Nextbox, PS4, or the future Wii U lineup so can';t we all just wait and make assumptions then?

Wow those predictions are so vague, you don't even need to be very informed to say any of that!

so the wii u or PS4 will be either of ones to win with the 720 in last place i take it

I was refering to sales, as well.  MS doesn't stand a chance against Sony in Japan, and most likely EU, without the 1+ year head start and massive advantage in price they had with the 360.  Like I said, the only way for MS to win is if the PS4 sells like crap in the US, which it's not going to do.  MS may win the US, and possibly the UK, but they are not going to win WW or the gen.  Also, all those media consumers, as well as MS's mighty ad budgets, hasn't helped with Windows 8 sales.  It's not going to sway core gamers, either, if they choose to focus on the casual market and multimedia functions.

You're looking at it from a gamer perspective. I too think that Sony will win next gen... But in overall sales? MS doesn't need to win JP or Europe, they just need to sell their OneBox as a do-all device and that will move them past Sony worldwide without much trouble(should we still compare the next-xbox to the PS brand?). Then again, this is all relative to what MS is planning and we won't know more until next month.

Windows 8 doesn't figure into this...  It offers no compelling reason for users to upgrade. Whether the OneBox will be the next thing? We'll find out in the coming years.
