Forums - Sales - Eidos forum admin says Tomb Raider sells 1 million copies in less than 48 hours

shipped

probably 400k across all platforms 1st week

No way it's shipped. Games usually ship 2/3 of their lifetime sales during the launch shipment (and lots of games have only one shipment during their whole life).

Everyone knew this was going to be a much much bigger title than the previous Tomb Raiders even before the excellent reviews, so without doubt the first shipment is at least 2 million, probably 3 million.

I wonder how much of this million is complaining silently about the stupid multiplayer mode (and having to reach the maximum online level almost 4 times for a single bronze trophy.)

Wait. I was actually hyped for a game and it got great reviews AND it's getting great sales!?

I guess now people on other system will understand why Uncharted is so loved among PlayStation Fans

Owners of other consoles still don't get the "half-tuck"!

That is true, when i played Uncharted my 10 year old nephew would just sit next to me and watched, its not the same with Tomb raider. I started playing Tomb raider yesterday and he screamed new Uncharted with chloe but when i told him its not uncharted but a different game, he tried to stick around to watch it, but soon lost interest and left saying its just uncharted ripoff. And also as i m playing Tomb raider it has very Uncharted Drakes fortune vibe to it.

Broke down and bought it on Steam Can't play it though because of crappy PC.

I'll get it today but I won't play it until my kid gets out of school this afternoon.  She's pretty excited about the game.  Hope it lives up to the hype.  I like the Uncharted series enough but, (and you've played the game--I haven't) does this Tomb Raider have its own identity?  I ask because nobody's made a Tomb Raider impressions thread aside from CGI's graphics threads.  From the IGN review, Tomb Raider looked to have a larger focus on exploration and a grittier story and combat.

Well its a reboot, different from previous alternation of lara, I mean different in a better way, Yes its Exploration centric, less combat, though using bow and arrow is sweet,  yes its gritty and sometimes too gruesome, but the story wise the game is weak, No character development at all. i Dont want to give out spoilers but the level which i m playing right now feels like a leaf taken out Uncharted 2 among theives Monestary level, even the plot structure is same as UC2. But any which ways its fun to be not playing as Nathan Drake for a change.
