i honestly think people are getting tired of god of war so that might be why it has a 79 but the last of us does look like it will score high and might even get the dayz crowd

At the end of the day, regardless of how strong the fan base is and the powers of teh cell,, many people consider God of War a generic button basher. I'm surprised it took this long for critics to rate a god of war game accordingly.

This gen hasn't been kind to hack and slash games. The last few released have been average (DMC & MGR) despite one scoring well with critics and the other doing well in sales.

i haven't seen any hype for Gears at all, and it comes out in less than 2 weeks. It'll do poorly in both review and sales, I think.

GoW:A will do ok, even with a ~79 metascore. God of War games tend to have have long legs.

Do you even own a PS3? Either way, cancelling a game because some reviewers are bored of the games industry is ridiculous. Make up your own mind. Pay attention to the content in the reviews, not the scores. I've seen cases where reviewers say a game is the best in the series yet it is rated lower than the previous games. It doesn't make sense. 

OT: The Last of Us is a new IP an pre-release hype and pre-orders is high. I don't think it will have any problem in getting good reviews. On the other hand God of War Ascension is a prequel to the end of a trilogy. We should have seen this coming months ago. I just hope the game ends up in the mid 80s. There is no way this game deserves a 79/100.

There's only been 1 God of War game on PS3 though. How can people be tired of the series? God of War 3 scored in the 90s.

Then there's Gears of War trilogy which have all come out on XBox 360 and they all scored in the 90s. It is ridiculous. I sense a double standard here. I guess shooters get a free pass.

You should probably save these comments until after you beat the game though. Don't let a couple bad reviews change your opinion of the game.
