Forums - Movies & TV - I never realized that Twilight's revenue has only been going up since the series began

I was always under the impression that Twilight was a fad that fizzled out after the first movie was released. How wrong was I? Here's what I found on Wikipedia.

It's the power of the tween.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

I'm not surprised the numbers are so large. The movies aren't that bad. I mean, they aren't that good either, but they aren't massive pieces of shit like people make them out to be, and their audience is largely lusty teenage girls, which are abundant.

What does come as a surprise is that the numbers are growing. I haven't heard anyone raving about twillight in like a year; I thought it's popularity was decreasing.

I don't understand how guys are so automatically against these movies.

I wasn't a bad flick by any means. The underlying mythos of the vampires and werewolves was cool. The fight scenes were ok and the general struggle was interesting. Was it "epic"? no. But it was better than many other blockbusters.

Personally, I'd like to see a branch off of this to focus more on the folklore, especially the werewolves.

Up next.. I can't wait for The Host to release (same author). That was a great book. Movie trailer looks awesome too.

Romance teen movie featuring a girly vampire fella who glitters in the daylight - dem sales.

But ya it captivated people to come back and back to see what will happen. Expect many clones in the future.

"Beautiful Creatures" a film aimed at similar demographic did not fair too well.

Oh yes they are! I have been forced to sit through every fucking one of them because my wife is a "Twi-hard". These movies are a complete abomination with zero redeeming qualities.

The acting is atrocious. Kristen Stewart has one facial expression.....constipated.

The story is the exact same rehashed garbage that we've been seeing in teen romances for years. Girl falls for mysterious guy that she knows isn't good for her, expcept this guy sparkles when sunlight hits him and he uses enough hair gel on a daily basis to drown a large dog in.

Worst of all, this series completely destroys anything that was ever remotely cool about vampires and it makes no sense. These fuckers sparkle in sunlight, keep repeating highschool over and over even though they are 100 years old, and shatter like glass when they get hit really hard. No blood comes out whatsoever. So they're made of some sort of crystal or glass? Yet they are still completely flexible and soft to the touch? They also apparently have no pulse which means no circulation but the one vampire dude gets a boner and knocks up the constipated looking chick? Da fuck?

I could go on, but I think my point has been made!

So you had no idea that 5 movies were made lol? Hollywood doesn't go past 1, unless there's profit motive.

Never heard of it, how did Warm bodies do?

1. Beautiful Creatures

Production Budget: $60 million

Gross: $45 million

2. Warm Bodies

Production Budget: $35 million

Gross: $91 million

So, "Warm Bodies" was a solid hit riding largely on strong showing in the United States.

Ahh!

Glad Warm bodies did well - looked interesting from the trailer I saw lol.

Cant say much bout Beautiful Creatures since its my first time hearing about it XD.

Looks like it was about witches o.o?

I honestly do not know much about it other than the "buzz" was for it to be the "next Twilight". Can not say it appealed to me.

I think I will check out "Warm Bodies" once it gets to DVD though.

I like the first one, but didn't care for the others all that much. I've heard that the last one was pretty good, but haven't even seen the 4th one. Don't think I will either.

The hate for these movies are ridiculous though because these moves and books were not aimed for guys at all. They were aimed for women and women liked it so they did something right.
