Depends how they support the Vita with the PS4.

This whole streaming PS4 games to your PS Vita sounds quite good to me, so I'm interested in that. If its well supported, then I can see it really taking off.

Depends on how Sony market and support the device.

If the PS4 takes off and is a big hit, then I can see many people picking up a Vita when the hit $199 or, more likely, $149. They'll be able to stream games to it, play its own library of quality games, and play all the PS+ games Sony has been giving out (this one is why I'm buying a Vita this year.)

I think, in the end, the Vita will be perfectly fine. Probably not come close to 3DS's sales, but it will make Sony a pretty penny. It's also nice it beat the 3DS last week in Japan, even if it was for just one week.

Anyway, we shall see. I think any predictions made with the current data are going to be inherently flawed. We need to see at least the next 2 weeks data before we can make predictions about the long term effects of the price cut, and we need to wait until at least E3 before calling doom on Vita.

If hardware sales drop back to approximately the pre price cut level in Japan, and if Sony focuses almost exclusively on PS4 at E3, then I would be comfortable with the 'doom' word.

My first thought, but Pacter saying this probably means the Vita is destined to overtake the DS lifetime.

Uh huh. Who knows what the future holds though. We could see it happen again sooner than most think.

^ It is pretty interesting how the very first time he makes a doom comment on the Vita, it also turns out just a few days later that we get sales data showing the Vita outselling the 3DS for the very first time since launch.

I mean, what are the odds?

Now we'll never know if it was the price cut or Patcher dooming it that gave it a sales boost in Japan :(
