PS Vita doesn’t have ‘much of a future’ according to analyst Michael Pachter, who has dismissed the importance of the handheld’s sales quadrupling in Japan.

This week sales charts from the land of the rising sun suggested PS Vita has seen four times the sales since its $50 price cut, putting its sales at about 62,000 – higher than every console except 3DS.

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter told NowGamer: “I don't think Vita has much of a future, think the handheld market is shrinking, and the Vita audience is a niche audience.

“At lower prices, one would expect sales to grow.”

i cant tell if your sacrastic or being serious lol. what do you mean by the bolded part

I think the Vita has room to grow in the Japanese market. Not only because they love their handhelds, but there are a lot of Japanese developed games on the horizon. However, Pachter is probably on the money about the Vita having no future in the West unfortunately, even with a global price drop.

vita saved... sony rejoy!

Switch!!!

I thought niche markets were a good thing. If one can find the right niche, a product can survive as long as one creates a loyal following. Once that happens, one would expect for word of mouth (a type of marketing) to help in future sales. Vinyl is nice example, but Sony needs to play it right.

I like to see week 2 and 3 of the Vita in Japan.

But also, NA and Europe sales will be even lower as they will feel entitled to their own price cut.
