Forums - Gaming - Epic Games Open to Gears of War on Next Generation Consoles

Like other people have stated Epic owns the IP . Mark Rein was asked about it going multi and he said it was their choice but at that time they where happy being on the 360 and with MS's support , he then once again stressed that it was their choice not MS's .

Still wasn't the same thing talked about in regards to Mass Effect when EA bought out Bioware with some people saying no to the whole the series and others saying ME2 and ME 3 but not ME1 .

Another series that will drag on into infinity? Quite likely. I really don't see the charm of 3rd person shooters, Gears of War is a decent series but all the pale copies it has produced are making me seasick. There's cover based shooting in every game released today (or damned close anyway).

I heard Cliffy B left Epic because he didn't want to be contracted into making Gears FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE.
Don't ever change Microsoft. Milk that cow till it's dry.

Microsoft doesn't own the Gears of War ip or Epic Games. So they are not the ones to blame for all the milking that's been going on.

Actually Epic said they would keep making Gears games if Microsoft made it worth their time. Apparently they did. Microsoft paid them past the three game contract, so obviously they got desperate and worked out a contract since they had no games.

Microsoft paid Epic to keep Gears exclusive. They paid them for their continued exclusivity. Gears would've made quite a bit more on a Gears trilogy on PC/PS3.

Desperate? Gears Of War is a billion doller franchise so it only make sense to continue the series, also PS4 is nowhere mentioned here OP: http://www.capsulecomputers.asia/2013/03/interview-with-gears-of-war-judgment-level-designer-jim-brown/

hopefully this game comes to PS4

I say bring the first three as a collection to the PS3 and/or PS4, Mass Effect Trilogy style :)

honestly i would love that, a trilogy edition for 60 bucks and its a launch tittle for ps4, then give us gears 4 later that year. i would honestly love that

Gears of War would sell like hotcakes on both platforms. They would do GTA numbers.

No it wouldn't.

Yes...desperate...it isnt Microsofts IP. Nowhere did I say Epic was desperate. They stated that if Microsoft wanted another game and the profitability was right they would make another game since it was like an unofficial exclusive for Microsoft.

Ok, I just checked. I only accounted for half of the sales when I said that, thinking it was the total. Thanks for correcting me. It would sell 10-12 million in all though which would be huge for Epic.

I bet they are.

I don't know how anybody can expect them to just drop this hugely successful series, it wouldn't make any sense.

Yeah I'm not interested in Gears of War. That's why I'm taking time to come in this thread and comment about how much I don't care just like half the people in this thread.

I mean so many of us don't care I'm shocked this thread has as many replies as it does. Though I guess it makes sense, after all we have to make it clear guys how much we dont care.
