Apparently my excuse is the same as yours, as I am a PS3 and Vita owner (I'm playing fight for fortune right now), so I guess I am instantly allowed to hang out in this Sony thread. And unlike you I already commented on the OP, at least the part of it I actually read. Anything else?

Nope Im happy as a clam. I wasnt suggesting/implying that you couldnt post in sony threads if you werent a sony console/handheld owner, I was just pointing out that the thread had relevance to me (since you raised up the point of why I was posting) due to owning a ps3 etc etc. My issue was that you hadnt seemed to read the article (or only partially read it) before making your comment on just the title (or at least thats what it seemed to me). Its all cool.

Sony has to be very very careful that while they focus on the western world (and emerging markets) for the ps4 they also have to make sure they dont forget about their Japanese fans. We already saw the effect on the vita of them not securing good games for the japanese market and especially system selling games that were exclusive to the psp but are now on the 3DS. They have to make sure that the same continues with the ps4 with exclusives and deals with publishers/developers that they already had.

I generally think Japanese developers will do better with new IPs and innovation this new gen rather than the ps3/xbox360 era where they lay back and focussed solely on Japan. The console architecture will be much easier to develop for and in the last few years we have had a number of IP successes. I also think japanese developers are now more aware of the gaps in thinking in eastern gamers and western gamers and have a better idea of how to bridge the gap. While I still think western games and developers will likely be pre-eminent this gen I expect japanese games and devs to make up the wide gap and focus less just on the established IPs.
