The only reason why the 360 made it this far is because Microsoft piggybacked on the PS3's success.

What do you mean piggybacking PS3's success. What success? The PS3 has been tugging at the Xbox 360's coat tails for the last 7 years. They have just now caught up in sales.

It's quite obvious he is trolling and I'm glad he winds people up who take the bait

also at bolded...360 is the slowest selling console this gen, There been no tugging at coat tails

The 360 has defied all naysayers by lasting the longest of all consoles before the official annoucement, let alone actually launch, of its successor. This is even more impressive given that it is still relevant in sales numbers each week.  Regularly and consistently being the top selling home console in the US, the biggest single market.

We all remember that the consensus was that the 360 would be replaced after 5 years or so and support would be dropped like a stone.

Journalists said it, forums posts insited on it and even Kaz Hirai tried to score a few points on the back of it.

PS1 to PS2:  5yrs 4 mths

PS2 to PS3:  6yrs 8 mths

PS3 to PS4:  7yrs  (assuming November 2013)

Average:  6yrs 4 mths

SNES to N64:  5yrs 7 mths

N64 to GC:  5 yrs 3 mths

GC to Wii:  5yrs 2 mths

Wii to WiiU:  6 yrs

Average:  5yrs 6 mths

Xbox to 360:  4 yrs

360 to Nextbox:   7 yrs 4 mths and counting (likley to be 8 full years)

Well played MS.

I've worked it out a "little" different

Sony's average at 6 years 3 months 10 days ish

Nintendo's average at 5 years 5 months 15 days ish

Microsofts average at 6 years exact

using those three companies only the industries average is 5 years 9 months 15 days ish

So microsofts above average just about, nintendo at the bottom and sony only just out in front

wow one country? There are 195 countries other than the USA you know? and they all belong on this place called earth....you still with me sweet cheeks or am i going to fast for you? ok ill continue ...well WORLD WIDE which is the Bigger picture, the 360 is still the slowest selling console this generation, behind the ps3 and wii

Quite a feat by the 360.

I would never have predicted that the nextbox/720 would release in late 2013/early 2014 back in the day.

I had nextbox down for a 2011 release.

Raven in Tales of Vesperia was a great character.

OT: I think the 360 can get to 10 years of support. And the current 8 is a far cry from the 4 or 5 years people though it would last.

Raven The Great! ToV totally had a great cast of characters.

Well I never thought X360 would last for just 4 or 5 years. A couple of years ago I was thinking Next Gen isn't coming until 2014. Didn't think the graphical leap would be sufficient until then. Though I did think Microsot will take the lead again by lauching first.

Yeah my favorite cast of characters in a Tales of game although Graces f had a solid cast of characters as well.

Sweet cheeks? Well the majority of sales come from the US you know and that's where it counts. If Microsoft didn't put Europe and Asia on the backburner they'd be leading there too. 360 still leads the PS3 worldwide in hardware and a huge lead in software sale. Give it up, Sony fans just can't acknowledge defeat.

Longevity for the 360 is self evidently a fact. However  it is true that, worldwide, the PS3 has consistently outsold it this generation. In spite of a 1 year head start the gap is now less than 1.4m and closing by over 30k every week.

Of course both consoles have been outsold by the wii.

Finally, the suggestion the the majority of sales are generated in the U.S and that's what counts is palpably not correct. Last week, for instance, the U.S. account for circa 37% of sales...significant but well short of a majority.

No. It's is my thread and its about time on sales before successors.  So your post is off topic and irrelevant.

Ask for anybody here if I'm offtopic... you and your nonsense ideias.

Kaz is right... the PS3 have a 10+ years plan... 360 have what? I can't see MS supporting 360 after Nextbox release... so 8 or 9 years?

Well I don't care about 360.

If you really not care then why are you in so many X360 threads?
