Forums - Sony - PS4 Launch Date: October 29th ???

Some websites have done a lot of digging and found out that ACIV is coming out on October 29th, and will be on "next-gen consoles".

It makes sense for them to release this game on PS4 launch day to optimize their sales. That seems more likely than releasing it first on PS3, and then releasing it a week or two later on PS4

Right now it's just speculation, but with Sony announcing "Holiday 2013" as their launch window, most people have suspected an early November release for PS4, so late-October would make sense too.

Just because it's coming out on next gen doesn't mean the consoles will release on Oct 29... In fact they could stand to make some extra money if people who can't wait have to buy it on current consoles first and then rebuy it for their next gen later.

I wonder if Sony is planning a short, staggered regional release window for the PS4, like what Nintendo did with Wii U.

For American, I'm putting my bets on November 22nd. It's a week before Thanksgiving / Black Friday when consoles almost always launch.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

oct 29 will be freaking awsome

That would be awesome and it fits the holiday window I'd say. Launching in October is smart to get the first couple weeks surge out of the way (hardcore fans like myself) and then have the Black Friday and Christmas sales pick up the slack right as things start to die down instead of having too much demand in too short a window to get everyone that wants one a ps4.

Erm. Didn't stop them from releasing Assassin's Creed 3 on the WiiU a few weeks later.

I'm hoping for an October release for the PS4 though because my birthday and anniversary are both that month so I can beg and plead for it for my gift. :P

No offense to Ninty fans, but Wii U is a completely different fanbase than PS3/PS4 (for the most part)

I'm going to say no. It will launch in November like everyone expects it to.

I know but it will probably release in November still. Probably the second or third week of November to be exact but I guess October 29th would be just as good of a release date as one in November.

I'm referring to Ubisofts launch approach. They did the same thing for Rayman Origins for the Vita.

Perhaps you are corrent.

I wonder if Ubisoft and other 3rd parties even know the exact Launch dates yet.

Sony themselves might not even know TBH
