I was really surprised about the fall damage too. I mean... who puts fall damage in a platforming game?

You must not have played Prince of Persia (2D), Deadlight, Flashback, Donkey Kong, etc.  Hell, I think I have a few XBLA games with falling damage (besides Deadlight) but I can't remember off the top of my head.  It's nothing new to platformers with a more serious tone.  With that said, I'm about to download the demo!  Hope it doesn't suck!

Wut?

Well, I hate fall damage in 2d platformers, it just makes the game more annoying to me. Where you could take shorcuts to save time you suddenly can't. Also, it really wasn't that much of a leap needed to die in the game, I can be okay with it if it is from a high height, but I were just jumping down from a chandelier and I died. It depleted all my life, the max should be 50% from such a height if you ask me.

Strange that I can't find a video or anything but in the original Donkey Kong from the 80's and the Gameboy version (it's an awesome game with tooooon of added content), if you fall too far, Mario will hit the ground, spin around, and die.

Around the Network

I found LoS absolutely unplayable and have hoped Mercury Steam doesn't ever go near this franchise again. So my expectations for this were really low. I may try it in 10 years on an emulator or something...

Hopefully more old school xbl and psn games are in the cards for Castlevania.

Tried the demo and was completely unimpressed. Not only it was clunky and uninspired, it was a poor try at adapting the gameplay of the console version of LoS into the side scrolling system of the previous handheld games.

It's a pretty odd move by Konami since the previous handheld games were moderately succesful and had a good fanbase as well. I hope they go back to that style in the next 3DS castlevania, since this one i'm not gonna pick up.

Current PC Build

CPU - i7 8700K 3.7 GHz (4.7 GHz turbo) 6 cores OC'd to 5.2 GHz with Watercooling (Hydro Series H110i) | MB - Gigabyte Z370 HD3P ATX | Gigabyte GTX 1080ti Gaming OC BLACK 11G (1657 MHz Boost Core / 11010 MHz Memory) | RAM - Corsair DIMM 32GB DDR4, 2400 MHz | PSU - Corsair CX650M (80+ Bronze) 650W | Audio - Asus Essence STX II 7.1 | Monitor - Samsung U28E590D 4K UHD, Freesync, 1 ms, 60 Hz, 28"

Given the demo a go and tbh I hope the issues are just down to the demo as it's not impressive, the's potential in the approach somewhere but it certainly isn't in what's displayed in the demo.
