Forums - Sony - PS4 may in fact have Native Built in Hardware to Run PSVita Game's!

It would be awesome, but no. Probably won't happen, unless you want to have a second job to buy a Sony console again. Not to mention it would be a kick in the nuts to the small amount of Sony faithful out there who bought a vita. It's basically emulating on a pc... Of course you'd have to buy the games though. Unless you have a ps+ subscription, then, like I said, kick in the nuts.

why would they not do it?

Why would they do it?

1. The ARM processor in PS4 is weak to run Vita games.
2. The ARM processor in PS4 is already in load for background process... even less power to run Vita games.
3. Sony want to sell Vita and PS4... not only PS4.
4. If Sony have any intent to run Vita games in PS4 it will use emulation or port and not the ARM inside PS4.

Anyway the PS4 have extra units for the work... I will give you a better picture:

1. UVD unit inside every AMD GPU: that's make the encode/decode video tasks without GPU resources.
2. ARM unit: standby, and freeze-frames current gameplay in memory for instant-on gaming when you power-up.
2. Unknown unit (maybe another ARM: downloads, uploads, video recording, backgrouund tasks.

In both cases is a low-power ARM processor.

I dunno, I feel as a device, the Vita should function as a standalone product, which just ain't happening right now. Bundling it with PS3's and PS4's wouldn't help that, I think Sony would be better just to release a PSP-esque system if they wanted a cheap combination of a WiiU style device/ecosystem. Vita is too strong to just be bundled with the PS3 and PS4, but isn't strong enough to succedd on its own :/

But that is the point if you would want such a product there already is, its called a Nintendo WiiU and a 3DS!, Sony's main goal with their portable game console has always been. take the living room game console experience on the go with you ever since they stepped into the dedicated  Hand held game console arena. Sony's goal has not changed with the PSPGo, and it has not changed with the PSVita. Look at it this way, is Nintendo or Microsoft really putting out that message as their Main goal with the Mobile game platforms?

That A: i would say is a No, many may say that Sony's not going to do very well that way, but you do not think Sony knows this is going to be a smaller market dynamic? Sony is building the Ecosystem for Playstation as content and services since the situation that Sony is in, i do not really blame them.

The current rate that Sony is selling xperia smart devices being 9:1 over the PSVita i do not think that Sony is going to be really looking at the dedicated Game handheld market as the #1 priority over the smart devices market. does that mean they will just up and quit the dedicated Mobile game system market? who know's at this point i doubt very much Sony is looking to put yet another PSP'esk type of Dedicated mobile game system until they see how the PSVita pans out.

Ok you got me :P

Ultimately I don't think making Vita games playable on the PS4 is a good thing, while you think it is, can we call this a draw? :P

sure..:D

And im not saying the most GPU intensive PSVita games but say for instance Playstation Mobile Indie type games and some less GPU intensive PSVita games ran on the PS4. I mean that would make indie developer's happy because the exposure on being on more than just one platform you can buy it on PS4 or the PSVita means they get two platforms for low investment but ROI chances may in fact increase due to both devices being able to run their software.

Oh ok, that doesn't sound too bad, I'm Indie developers would appreciate developing for effectively twice as many platforms now :)

the same here, im looking at this as the fact that the A5 could provide us the entry point developing for the PS4 without needing the expensive kit just like it is for the PSVita, now porting over our software for the APU instead of the SGX may be a problem unless Sony offer's a enhanced ver of the Playstation Mobile platform for the PS4. which i have heard that is in the works because Yoshida made a comment about offering such a go between platform for the PS4. its too early to know the full info on such a platform but i would imagine its based on the Playstation Mobile platforms due to the A5 being in the PS4!

Did you find out all this info yourself? I'd try to ask the vgchartz team to make an article with it if I were you, you could get your name in the lights for a brief moment :)

(and more importantly, before someone else steals your research :P)

yep, but im not a really interested in getting my name in light's, the research is just to inform people what i found out if someone else takes the credit for the research , im not that worried about it, im just pointing the direction.
