Forums - General - Weird question. Why do men shave their beards?

Some men don't like having a beard, some men can't grow much facial hair, and some women don't like men with facial hair.

I personally have gone back and forth about having a beard ever since I could grow one. Sometimes I'll have one, other times I'll shave it off. Right now, I'm growing it out again (like this, not this). I think I might keep it this time too.

Are we talking about ass hair now?

Because I have super effective method of shaving that area.

What's your secret?

Have another guy shave it for you.

hair also traps smell, and this is an age of oral...

I was talking about pubes fyi..

-For those saying that their wife/gf doesn't like it, I had the same issue, but I let it grow out just for a month or two, and now when I wanted to trim it down she wants it to stay :P Maybe give it a chance, it might turn out that she likes it, but is just nervous about that weird period between when your clean shaven, and when your beard is the right size ;)

-For those complaining about itchiness, it usually goes away after the beard gets a little length... For the first week or two it might itch like crazy, but after that you're on your way to itch-less beard paradise :P

Honestly, most people who think facial hair looks bad on them haven't given it enough time. Beards are back in a big way, and it's worth giving the old beard/stache a chance!! (Fashion Advice via Andross)

The real question is.

Why men evolve to grow beards?
What is the science of having a beard?

lion's mane, makes them appear bigger, and it protects their throat during battle with other male lions.

Perhaps used for the same thing? Also, usually the longer the beard the older one is (since it takes time to grow) so it might be a way to show hierarchy, male dominance, wisdom, respect elders? I'm just throwing out some guesses.

I havnt shaved my beard in 5 years, although i do "trim" right down without the gaurd, But In the UK at the moment its quiet fashionable to have some some facial hair

if i "trim" mine off I always get asked to grown it back, ladies really don't mind as much as you'd think!

here is my beard icon (who also makes good rap music)

His quotes on beards are amazing, especially for people who take part in "movember" (where people grow their beards for testicular cancer"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMVj30gnHKI (someone help me inbed it :( )

actually that brings up a good question, Do any other countries out there take part in "Movember" where men don't shave for a month to raise money for Testicular cancer (most people only grow moustaches though)
