Everything We Know: Pikmin 3

Pikmin 3 is coming in less than 3 months on Aug 4 (July 25 for EU) for the Wii U so,  lets analyze what we already know.

Story: Instead of Olimar like the last two entries in the series, this game stars three new captains, Alph, Brittany and their leader Charlie, all from the planet Koppai. The planet has been suffering a food shortage so they are search the galaxy for a new food source. By some unlucky chance, the 3 of them crash on the Pikmin planet and discover the Pikmin. As we can tell from the trailer and ND footage, they have been all separated (Alph lands in a forest area while Charlie is in a snowy area and the save screen said " Where is Brittany") and appear to discover different Pikmin (Alph is shown with reds and Charlie is shown with a yellow horde). There is no day limit to their mission but each fruit they retrieve produces the food for the day. They are trying to retrieve the seeds for their home.
Gameplay: There are some significant changes in terms of gameplay to the Pikmin series with this entry. First of all there is 3 controller schemes in addition to Off TV Play. The 3 controls are gamepad, Wii remote Plus + Nunchuk and Wii U Pro controller. The gamepad serves as the explorers' KopPad, and has the following functions: scanning the entire area from a top-down perspective to search around the area, can do general instructions like a typical RTS, and can switch captains with a tap. The cursor has also changed. Now it turns to the color to be thrown and has a counter to how many of those pikmin there are in possession.
The new pikmin types add many features. Rock types deal more damage and can break crystals. This is important as many enemies and walls may may crystal armaments. They also have the inability to be sucked(shown in earlierfootage). Flying pikmin have same strength and speed but travel in a line and fly over hazards but still easily attaked by normal enemies. All Pikmin return though their onions have changed. It appears the tutorial will have you retrieving an onion that has been caught on a branch. They appear to look very different from the Pikmin 1 and 2 counterparts with slender legs and a bulbous head. The bridge mechanics have changed from just striking the bridge to build to taking the parts to build.
There is a multiplayer mode still, compatible with all the control schemes. 
Graphics: The graphics have been a main part of the series since its inception. This time, there is more detail into enemies such as the bulborb which we can now tell has a short coat of fur rather than polkadot skin. Some characters got a redesign like the decorated cannon beetle.There are also a number of new enemies like a suction moth, a variation of skitterleafs, skating insects lava slugs, a bubble blowing crab. Some of you ,ay have not noticed but the ground textures have also improved tremendously. If one compares the initial footage to yesterday's footage they will see a tremendous increase in realism in the environment's textures.  The game is also going to be at highest 720p

pikmin 3 is going to be awesome, i hope they have one more new pikmin type. also rock pikmin very handy with those enemies that crush!
