Forums - Sony - GameStop:PS4 is clearly focused on developers & gamers.

We will see if microsofts greed will takeover. They have charged there customer to the hilt and put out defective consoles just to beat sony to the punch. These are all facts. If the rumors are true that there new console has to be online then i think they will block used games. They have windows software and you can never buy windows software used like a game at gamestop. The hardcore xbox fans will of course stick with xbox. Xbox does have quality and a great service im sure. I just like sony always have and will never switch to another console.Basically for the same reason ppl will not leave xbox even if they block used games.

Sony is stepping up and doing a great job this time around. Easy architecture to develop for, TONS of memory, and listening to developers and working FOR consumers. As opposed to telling people to "get a second job" in order to own a PS3 lol.

These reasons are why you can't find a single legitimate complaint about Sony's PS4 reveal or any part of that event. They are doing a GOOD JOB, and they're doing what they should be.. Developing great hardware, great ecosystem, and not limiting the experience.

It's important to think about what this next generation is going to be about. Wii-era motion gimmicks, kinect style flailing? Or are we coming back FULL CIRCLE (ORBIS) and getting back to games, games, and more games.

As if there ever was a doubt. Sony is always focused on the core gamer.

S.T.A.G.E. What you mean is that as a 1st party developer, they generally focused on more core experinces than casual experience, though they did develop both (Parappa, Crash, eyepet, ...)

PS4 will play used games, no doubt about it. I wish this stupid rumor would die already. It's nothing more than haters trying to hold on to every last straw of hate. The man already said it would play used games.

Actually this backfired on haters and MS too, as it somehow helped pushing Sony to do a clever marketing move, clearly announce the support to used games when XB720 is still receiving both opposed rumours about doing or not doing it.

In amongst the rubble of arguing and quote trees in here, I just want to say: yay. This is pleasing to hear, at least, and suggests that their mind is in fact made up about used games.

That never was a rumor on PS4 side... not that I have read... now in the Nextbox side everyday a new developer "confirm" that rumor.

I've seen 2 or 3 on the PS4 side as well. Sony patenting the tech for starters. Then their most recent comments about it were that they were undecided. So really, it is still up in the air on whether or not PS4 will allow used games or not.

I'm guessing the most likely scenario is that both the PS4 and the NextBox will have the ability to block used games, but they will leave that functionality choice up to the developers/publishers. So let's say EA wants to use the "no used game tech", that's their choice and then some or all EA games would have this. But then NaughtyDog or 343 Industries or whoever else could just as easily choose not to use the tech.

Or maybe the tech will be used alongside the "online pass" crap so that used games can still work, but they will all require some extra charge to unlock.

They are naturally better at making core games than casual ones. They are ok at casual titles, we'll leave that to MS and Nintendo.
