So apparently Machiavellian thinks that the esram of the Xbox One having its maximum theoretical bandwidth simply added to the maximum bandwidth of its DDR3 is a new development that was never discussed on these forums or NeoGAF's. He claims he's just so on top of all the discussions and that whatever Fallen recently posted is new and apparently worth hashing out. Is it me or do those guys suffer from selective and collective amnesia? That topic has been discussed a number of times and not just recently. That topic was from months back. Around the time of E3 or a little later if I'm not mistaken and thanks in no small part to Digital Foundry's shoddy journalism. How many times will they keep bringing up the same debunked and rehashed crap before they finally just accept the facts as they are? I mean at this point it's pretty much worthy of a psychological case study.

Yeah it has definitely been talked about a lot over the last 3 months.  It is a tricky topic though because for one they can be added, but only in certain scenarios like the GPU being able to read/write from them at the same time.  And the xbox does that, but that 200 GB/s or whatever it is for the eSRAM is only for 32MB and that is really small so while that 200GB/s is great, it's still limited to 32MB. And there have been many tech people/website that said the only amount they will get to in real world scenarios is about 140-150GB/s. And developers have to jump through hoops in order to utilize the eSRAM as efficiently as it will allow. Not as bad as the CELL fiasco, but still not as easy as full unified GDDR5.  And since PS4's GDDR5 is unified it will be really easy to reach it's theoretical peak of 176GB/s.  I'll also say that the 15 microprocessors is BS too.  We don't know what really any of them do, but yet we have people claiming they will be able to take away CPU/GPU resources and other BS.  And one more thing, everyone is saying to wait for the games to come out, but we all know launch titles are not a good indicator of which is more powerful because they are rushed and are made on not final hardware.  They only just got final devkits like 2 months ago maybe a bit more. Wait for 2nd year and 3rd year games before claiming anything.

Right. The bottleneck for memory that is caused by having only 32MB of esram which is a bit of a headache for developers when they're working with a pool of 5GB or more of DDR3 ram. It was essentially a patchwork solution to the fact that the PS4 was reported as having GDDR5 when MS was fully expecting Sony to go with DDR3 and only have 4GB of it. The maximum theoretical output is pretty much crushed by the ram not being unified and only having that amount of embedded ram. Furthermore, even if the ram of the XOne could go beyond that of the PS4, it wouldn't be by a large enough gap to make much of a difference. The difference in raw GPU power alone is greater than any potential difference in ram, in the PS4's favor. They also continue to insist that the CPU of the XOne is superior thanks to the nearly 10% speed boost it received. Kind of silly to say that when, as far as I know, the speed of the PS4's CPU was never officially revealed. The only real indication we have of how customized its speed is would be from the FCC filing in which it was declared that the PS4's CPU had a max clock frequency of 2.75GHz. Which, if correct, would place it a fair amount beyond the claims of Xbox fans for how fast the XOne's CPU is. Why did MS hide their FCC filing? Regardless of all the numbers, it is all yet one more indication of how two-faced fanboys can be. You can't say that the specs on paper don't matter and then continue to try and argue that the specs on the paper of your machine are better. Come on. Like I've pointed out before. Your system apparently can't even run a decent looking fighting game that's on a 2D plane at 1080p without losing framerate. If you're being forced to run a game like Killer Instinct at 720p to maintain high framerate at the very beginning of a new console generation, that says quite a bit about the limitations of your hardware.

Yeah no way is the CPU in the X1 that big of a factor.  Sure it helps, but's it's not gonna be as much as they think it will. And I'm not sure if that 2.75Ghz on the ps4 FCC doc was for the CPU or if it was the GDDR5 frequency. Most believe it's for the GDDR5 and that may be right.  Plus sony since they haven't announced a clock for their CPU could come out and say it's 1.8-1.9 like some rumors. But I'm not gonna believe anything till sony says otherwise. Wish other people could do the same. :-p

So...There might be a GTA V for the PS4.

Let the anticipation flow through you!

EDIT: Crap. Someone already posted it! :P

Have you guys seen the Vita/Vita 2000 comparison video yet?  If you don't have a Vita yet and want one, I'd recommend picking up the original before it sells out.

The black levels on the slim version are poor making the colors look lighter and brighter.  You can see how much shadow is gone in the Uncharted comparison because of the black levels being removed, so think of what it would look like in a game that heavily utitlized darkness as a gameplay element.  I've only played the demo of Silent Hill Book of Memories but areas were mostly dark with your flashlight as a main light source.  You probably don't even need the flashlight now that the new slim version has such poor black levels.

I leave and upon my return to the site I find an interesting forum. PlayStation is my realm.
