^ Yea I don't get it either. The Xbox hasn't been the most powerful since 06. You'd think they'd be used to that by now.

The problem people don't understand is by getting a more powerful system sony has made the following three possible

1. To market the most powerful console in the market line
2. To market the most powerful system..yet cheaper line
3. Take away the multiplat advantage the 360 had. EVEN for w/e reason multiplats only look the same across both systems, it still means one of the biggest advantages the 360 had is now gone

I dont even think its a case of being a step ahead.  i tihnk its a case of MS choosing the wrong road, and having to cut thru a back alley to get back on track.  They wanted to go TV - ENTERTAINMENT! SPORTS!!!!  so they built a system for that,  and now they are trying to catch up and fix what is left of it.  its like they (fans) forget that whole chapter existed.  its a gaming console second and it shows

That's why I find this so interesting. The PS4 captures the PS3's greatest strength - power - but manages to deliver it in a highly efficient form. Added to that, as you highlighted, it is cheaper than the technologically inferior platform. This is a winning formula. All we need now are good (great and stellar) games and a decent service and the crown will return to Sony. Sony seems to have the right pieces in place with respect to marketing. Truly, for the first time one might be able to say the most powerful console won a generation outright (and not factoring in any 'technicalities').

i personally think its like this. back last year when people were speculating about next gen consoles, the xbox fans were speculating that 1) the xbox "720" will be more powerful than the PS4, sony is bleeding money and cant afford to lose much money on the PS4. 2) the xbox 720 will be cheaper than the PS4 because microsoft shits money and can "take the hit" while sony is bleading money and cant. there was a firm believe, not even by just xbox fans, but by a lot of other people, that the next gen xbox will be cheaper and stronger than the PS4, and shit all over it when it comes to sales.

fast forward to early 2013 before the consoles were announced and the leaks started happening, and the PS4 turned out to be stronger, while people were still saying that these are just rumors, it seemed that the xbox fanbase somewhat accepted that the PS4 will have a stronger GPU but they also thought it would have just 4 GB's of RAM. but the main thing is they thought it would be cheaper, MUCH cheaper. The PS4 got announced, we knew the specs and it the rumors turned out to be true and we knew for sure the xbox ones power. so it came down to price now, they were in the same league power wise, so it didnt really matter.

E3 came and even though Xbox had a better lineup of exclusive games announced (key word, announced). the bomb blew up with two pieces of info. PS4 NOT blocking used games. and the 499$ vs 399$ for the X1 and PS4. the two main things that peolpe thought will be in the xbox ones favor actually turned out to be in the PS4's favor. as a result one console shat all over the other when it came to sales, but it was the opposite of what people expected. so the 180 happened. 

the dust settled, were nearing launch and the two main advantages xbox fans believed to have are now in the PS4's favor, they know deep down that sony will steam roll them when it comes to games. TitanFall, Dead Rising, Ryse and Sunset Overdrive are all from thrid party devs. with TitanFall, by far this biggest game, being a timed exclusive for xbox and also on PC. Sony's first part will piss all over MS's, specially with ND, GG, SSM and MM all being 2 teams now. so the power thing is all they got to hold on too. PS4 just did everything that xbox fans thought xbox one would do. be cheaper, stronger, easier to develop for and have more sales.

Yea I remember thinking the PS4 was primarily a gaming machine and an entertainment hub second, while the Xbox 720 One was the reverse. The latter configuraiton is much less interesting to me. And screw sports, especially those that are not played in my country xD

Let's leave those Xbox fans be. let them dream, however, it'll be a time where they'll have to wake up.

even if they had been all about hockey and the NHL, i still wouldnt have cared lol   i have my custum sports channels so i can watch my teams, with my favorite analysts.   Its not like the xbox is the only way to watch sports.      MS are paying for what they decided to target, and honestly, I think this gen will be shorter than the last because of it.

Exactly ...I do the same for tennis and football (real football), so even if they catered for people like me it would defeat the purpose. I don't plan to buy the system for that. It wouldn't even constitute a bonus for me. That would be tantamount to it having Skype. I would acknowledge it, but likely never use it since I have another medium to use it (which is much more preferable to me). If that's their priority then I have little to no interest in buying into the console and their ecosystem.

i cant wait for lens of truth. meltdowns will happen with every big game releasing. specially Battlefield and watch dogs
