The 3DS hasn't been hack yet, but there are rumors of some hackers that were able to do it (this was just a couple of months ago I believe), so if this is true we could see a way to hack the 3DS maybe this year. |
The 3DS is hacked but the hack has not gone public. For details visit gbatemp.net. The WiiU hacking is also ongoing and by current judging the CPU is ISA-compatible with Wii which means Dolphin could emulate it, too, but it would need way too much power to emulate it at good speed.

Well, we will see a decent PS4 emulator long before we see a decent ps3 emulator that's for sure.
Atto Suggests...:
Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series
Game - Metro Last Light
TV - Deadwood
Music - Forest Swords
Yeah, like others in this thread, imo it's highly more likely we'll see, a PS4 emulator before a PS3 emulator. That doesn't mean easy. There's still many issues with PS2 emulator,
The other big thing, is that there has to be an active community wanting a large amount of games for it to be worth it. For instance, Dolphin and PS2 has many many many games, PC doesn't have that are desired. While the Xbox, particularly the first one, has a few, panzer dragoon, ninja gaiden, etc. But not to the extent wii, gc, or PS2 have.

First, again, there will never be a PS4-emulator but there could be software that enables a PC to run PS4-games. I know the difference is hard to see for people but there is a difference.
Your "other big thing": So you say that there is no XBOX-"emulator" is because of the games? Then why is there an ATARI Jaguar emulator? A 3DO emulator? Even a Virtualboy emulator has been written. The API-Wrapper for XBOX is just a huge amount of work and would require to know the dev-tools by MS completely.
Read here, for example: http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/xbox/cxbx.html
"Cxbx
This may not actually be an emulator to some people but everyone considers it one. Cxbx's goal is to convert a game from an Xbox executable to a native Windows executable.
This may sound bold but it's already happening and in theory it's quite possible." While not exactly true (convert means wrapping the calls at runtime in this case) you should get the idea.

Because those are much simpler in architecture. The community is much bigger. For instance, there were xbox emulators like http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/xbox/xeon.html, that could partially play halo, but they never evolved.
While the PS2 ones did. I'm not saying it will never happen either.
Ofcourse in theory since the PS4 is X86, you wouldn't have to emulate the CPU instructions. You could run the software a different way than traditional emulators like you said atleast the cpu.

Edit: I just read that you edited your post so now take my offense to real in my post ;)
What?! The XBOX was actually a PC, which architecture would be easier?! Did you understand what I wrote?
Perhaps this will help:
http://www.caustik.com/cxbx/progress.htm and http://www.caustik.com/cxbx/download/progress.htm
Read especially from 2nd link: Xbox Emulation Theory
It wasn't the software part that was complicated, it was the software part.

Im pretty sure Sony isn't thinking this time they can't get hacked and won't run around and say "We are undestroyable"
With the PC architecture of the PS4 is will probably be easier to hack the console but at the same time they look into anti piracy technology as some Patents show. The Loading Time stuff is probably one of many ideas.
Emulators won't be out for the next 10-15 years probably cause as you said there isn't even a 360 Emulator and won't be for a long time.
The PS4 is as strong as a HighEnd PC/capable of putting out graphics like them...If we even can't emulate a 360 right now after 7 years of this Gen we surely won't see a powerhouse like the PS4 getting emulated.Probably not even the NextBox will be able to see an emulator. Those times are mostly over.
But im sure we will see a WiiU Emulator - A tablet or so will be used as the screenpart.Technology will find a way.
