I feel like the Eastern/Asian idea for Assassin's Creed was a much more interesting one. I thought it would introduce many new aspects to the game and give us a very different environment. Pirates... that's pretty much like Old English stuff, what Assassin's Creed just did.

They probably want to revisit and expand upon the naval warfare from AC3.
