Mario has a mustache because they couldn't draw a believable mouth small enough in Mario's sprites.

Neat.

Heres Another (Forgot where the source is srry), The main pokemon of ash in the anime was not suppose to be pikachu but .......

If this were true it'd be some crazy changes in the pokemon world lol

no, it was supposed to be Jigglypuff.  Dude get your incredibly obscure 15 year old refrences straight already :D.

Also, going back to the OP, The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time was going to be very simmilar to Mario 64 in which the whole game took place in one tower or something like that.

Birdo is a Bi

Snape gies Dumbledore a cake but it turns out to be a lie

Nintendo thought Super Smash Bros would never be a big hit outside of Japan

Samus turns into a ball because making a crawl animation would have been too difficult for the NES and the developers

I used to know a ton but I've forgetton about a 1000 things, I really hate my memory.

Ah that reminds me!

The name 'Donkey Kong' comes from a misunderstanding. The name was supposed to mean something along the lines of 'silly ape'. Presumably, Kong comes from 'King Kong', which is a big ape, while the word 'donkey' was misunderstood as a word used for something silly.

Nintendo got sued over the name too because of the similarities between King Kong and Donkey Kong. Nintendo won.

They wanted to put Donkey because it showed how stubborn Donkey Kong was (you know, stubborn as an ass), not silly.

Nintendo was sued by Universal Studios about the use of the name Donkey Kong. Universal Studios lost because they'd recently won a case proving that Donkey Kong was a public domain and couldn't be owned. They sued Nintendo after they saw how quickly the game was growing, and were punished quite harshly for it by the judge.
Nintendo, as thanks to the lawyer who helped them win the case (many seniors in the company were considering bowing out of the American market as soon as a company as large as Universal Studios threatened legal action), bought him a yacht and named one of their future characters after him (Kirby).

Hmm

When you turn on a GameCube console holding down L+R buttons on all 4 controllers you get a baby sound instead of the usual start up tone

If you hold the Z button on all 4 controllers you get a japenese sounding startup tone

At any rate, the name wasn't completely what it was supposed to mean exactly .

There's A LOT more if you want to check: http://didyouknowgaming.com/

First, Miyamoto is a genius. This game proces it. Also, the intro of the game still contains DKC style prerendered graphics.

Second, lol, I always thought exactly that! And I assumed Waluigi was just a cheap spin on Wario and Luigi. Now it actually makes sense! Good job Nintendo.
