I define dark in terms of narrative and gameplay content. Artistic tone is a factor, but unlike some people, I don't believe it should be the only one considered.


While I don't agree with the order of the list, I agree with your definition. Narrative and story is in my opinion above artstyle. That's why despite the art, The Wind Waker is dark


We have our different interpretations of how each game relates to the definition, 'tis all.

That's a really good read, Fox! I never thought of The WindWaker like that at all. I probably should get the re-make when it comes to the Wii U. (And when I get a Wii U! Which is the sad truth... I don't have one. :/)

Hey, I resent that! Minish Cap is my favorite post-Wind Waker Zelda game.

And I agree with another poster on here... Zelda CD-I games are the darkest of all Zelda games lol.

This reminds me that i should get around to getting Minish Cap off of the ambassador games.

No way, that was awesome!  Though I preferred the few times Zelda and Link were the focus of segments during Captain N / Mario 3 instead of the original LoZ cartood that aired with the Super Mario Bros Super Show.

When I saw Wind Waker #1 I thought it was a joke thread, but after reading it does make sense, I can't believe Nintendo hid it so well with that cartoonish art-style.
