not exactly offical yet but jack said sony will have just match the 360 shipments his quarter and selling better weekly.  in the end ps3 will sneak past even if just barely with 1 less year on the market.  halo is big but not big enough to fully displace the shear quantity of sony first party.

Gran Turismo is the only one that can stop Halo. Even then it falls short. No one is here for FF anymore.

He said "outselling" which implies periods when they were both on the market, which is true.  The PS3 had a much higher rate of sale over its lifetime.

As for stopping Halo 5, they can't, not any more than Microsoft can stop the next Uncharted or Gran Turismo.

All mainline (numbered) Halo games are/have been allowed the necesarry of 3 year minimum development time(2001, 2004, 2007, 2012), this will/should hold through with Halo 5 because of the need for a new planet/setting from a art direction, they will also need the time to rewrite/update their engine for Xbox 8, really a 3 year job, definitely not one year.

Oh, I'm basing this on my expectation that Xbox 8 will launch in Nov/Dec of this year btw.

Nothing. Halo will always sell 7-8-12 million copies and move a lot of Xboxes, however, Sony don´t have to STOP them, Sony doesn´t need to kill Microsoft to stay alive, all they have to do is to turn good profits.

All three NINTENDO, SONY and MS can co-exist, as long as all of them turn profits, they will not go bankrupcy. And we all benefit from that, because there is more inovation and diferent games, that is a great thing.

Well, first of all, Halo 5 will very likely not be a launch game for the 720.
Secondly, Sony can never ever make an exclusive as good as Halo.

Halo 5 had a a year development?

Why would you think it had only a year development??. just cos Halo 4 would of launched a year before Halo5 doesnt mean halo 5 wasnt being worked on at d same time

Makes ZERO sense, yeah sure 343 was working on Halo 4 and its sequel at the same time, whatever.

Microsoft has a different business strategy that tries to target everyone. Sony is having to play it safe and go after the "gamers" because they are not in a position financially as a company to take many chances. That is why the 8gb of that expensive RAM. They are trying to sell to the hardcore gamers.

They already have in Uncharted and soon The Last of Us. Unless you mean sales, then Gran Turismo and Call of Duty are much better.
