Forums - Sony - Did we get gearboxed by any of the games or demos in the PS4 conference?

So yeah who else is wondering which games were actually going to look as good as what was shown in the demo?

My jaws dropped with Deep Down but something about it seemed off. The whole weapon interface thing seemed like it was slapped on and it kind of felt like the Killzone 2 demo way back in the day. I felt similarly with Infamous, which just seemed like a video playing.

Did anyone feel like that with any of the other games/demos? What can we realistically expect?

Some of them did seem like Tech Demos.
I guess we'll just have to wait for the Holiday Season, though. (Or E3.)

Deep Down, for sure.

Although I wouldn't really call it Gearboxing. It may be more like the Killzone 2 reveal. Gearbox pretended their game wasn't a total piece of shit. After Dragon's Dogma,. I have complete faith in Capcom to deliver a quality product regardless of graphical fidelity.

There's a video of Deep Down available, watch in in 1080, you can definately see that it's too ugly to be a CG (shadow failing near ears, kind of ugly textures here and there and more importantly you see it's modelized by looking at round things) yet IT4S FUCKING BEAUTIFUL. So no it's not In-game, but it's In-engine and that's more than enough. Infamous is also in-engine, for the same reasons as above, check the 1080p, especially on the two guys we see from the behind and the girl. Too ugly and imperfect to be CG, yet so beautiful.

KZ is deffo in game, since it's, well, in-game and playable...

Gearboxed? None of them I reckon, not sure whether Deep Down will constantly look that good, even though there were a few graphical artifacts.

Gearboxed? Is that a reference to Aliens: CM because the game turned out bad after people thought it would be good?

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Well, Wii U still doesn't have a game looking as awesome as that Bird techdemo or the Zelda techdemo. So, yes, prepare to be disappointed upon the release of these games(or not, i'm not Michael Pachter to predict these things).

yes, because before they showed a "demo" of "gameplay" of the game (afaik they called it a "vertical slice" ), but only parts of that very promising demo was actually in the game and in these instances the retail game actually had worse lighting, worse AI and less environment details etc - even in the PC version
