Forums - Sony - PS4 = Photorealism

You know the final game have better graphics than this demo, no? Some effects are worst but other are better... overall the final game is better than this demo.

Killzone 2 is not as good as this video. They used a cinematic to try and sell the PS3 and how awesome the games would look.

All I am saying is people need to have realistic expectations when it comes to these trailers Sony showed, otherwise they may be dissapointed.

Personally I am hoping the new killzone will look like that. But if its slightly worst but better than KZ3 I will still be impressed.

That was already discussed here and the final game delivery close or better than what you saw in the video.... I can find even a recente thread about that.

Wait for...

I believe I read somewhere when Avatar came out that the CGI was achieved using like 10 super computers. So if something like Avatar is the standard for photorealism no, PS4 will not come anywhere even remotely close to photorealism.

Maybe the PS5 with a $100 000 price tag.

The PS3 never reached the level of that infamous Killzone 2 teaser, though it did come close towards the end of its lifespan.

The thing is, tech demos have the benefit of not having to run all the trappings of a working game in addition to the graphics.

That's not true... the game have worst and better effects but overall is close of better than E3 2005 trailer... the final game have even more details in the screen.

The final game has more filters, but the animation,  explosions, textures, and models are inferior.

could you imagine if all games are like avatars.... how much it would cost to produce a single game....

i see a lot of studios closing...

If I recall correctly, rendering Avatar took 104TB of RAM; 13,000 times what the PS4 has.

that quantic dream is certainly amazing, but no way will they pull that level of realism in game. still cant wait what they will pull off with the PS4, looking at how amazing beyond looks, there ps4 game will look outstanding

But look what they were capab le of doing other time wiht the PS3

The first games out always look the worst. At the end of the PS4 life shouldn't the QD model look pretty damn close to what they can do?

Did PS3 games ever reach this level?

EDIT: Damn it! Conegamer beat me to it!

Thats not a fair comparison his face needs to be wrinkled the wrinkle effects needs to be shown off.

That Killzone demo was beyond anything I had ever seen before. The first time my jaws dropped like that was when I saw the original Crysis maxed out on PC. I honestly don't think there are any games out right now that can achieve that level of fidelity. And this is jut the beginning. 5 years from now...

This may not be photorealism, but it is more than good enough for next gen.

Let me remind you of Killzone 2 E3 2005

Personally I hope PS4 footage we seen is real but knowing Sony's bluffing history who knows.

Sony knew people would think this so they made sure to show it was a live demo. Guess people don't believe them still. Also I'd like to point out that the second gameplay of this level they uploaded looks even better than what was in the conference. On Jimmy Fallon tonight we'll see another live demo.

I don't even think that is photorealistic, and we are not going to be seeing entire games looking photorealsitic for a while.
