Forums - Gaming - Your personal journey through the video game generations

3rd Gen: NES

4th Gen: Sega Genesis, but I have played the other kids SNES (Genesis is what I like more this Gen)

5th Gen: N64, but I have played a lot of Sega Dreamcast (Dreamcast is my 3rd Favorite system)

6th Gen: PS2 & GameCube & GBA (the PS2 was easily the best with the lesser graphics for 6th Gen Home Console. Also the PS2 is my 2nd favorite system of all time)

7th Gen: DS, I was disappointed in the PSP & Wii & PS3 because of the Game Library

8th Gen: 3DS (my favorite system EVER!), I was doubting the Home consoles after the 7th Gen but after seeing footage of "Single-Player-Asymetrical-gaming" in such games as Batman Armored Edition & ZombiU & Ninja Castle & Golf Prototype, well I might change my mind, but I still want to see a Library of games I want.

Good luck trying to sale your Wii Us & PS4s to me, LOL.

with the Xbox, well I only want Halo, so if I had the money to buy a Console for 1 franchise, then I already would have, LOL but true. I'm more of a Dreamcast/PS2/3DS kind of gamer.

  SNES with adaptor

What adapter?  The Game Boy adapter (Super Game Boy)?

it came second hand with a number of adapters  , from memory there was a nes to snes one and one for japanese games not sure what the third one was for , I still own it but a friend of mine who as setup a storage area under his house a kind of museum has it and my N64 at the moment , he used to own a video shop in England before he migrated here to Australia  and has lots of rare japanese gaming gear , an aside to that is the guy who came up with worms worked for him at the store his name was Andy Davison and was according to my friend a brilliant tech , but spent most of his time upstairs on an Amiga 2000 developing what became worms and when the store was going broke his mum came in pleading for my friend to keep Andy on , they both got real angry when they where told by my friend it wasn't a matter of paying or not paying wages , It was either  vacate  because he was deep in the red or face bankrupcy and they abused the shit out of him even though he turned a blind eye to Andy spending more time on worms than working , still Andy went to team 17 with the demo and the rest is history.

Nice back story on Worms.  I love the game (mainly Worms Armageddon (N64, PSN, etc) but I enjoyed games like Worms 3D (GCN, PSN).  I forgot to comment on this post but this thread brought your post back to my mind.

The article is stating that THQ still has IPs up for grabs such as Red Faction, Darksiders, and Worms.  Some in thread mentioned that team 17 ones the IP for Worms.  I am not too sure but perhaps you would know the answer?

1st/2nd/3rd/4th Gens
- Was before my time.
- Still owned a NES, SNES, Gameboy and Mega Drive (Genesis) around the same time I owned the 5th gen consoles.
- Favourite games were Sonic 1/2/3, Duck Hunt, Alex Kidd and Super Mario Land.

5th Gen
- My Dad used to buy and sell games and consoles, so I naturally got into gaming at a young age.
- Played my Dad's Sega Saturn a lot since 1998.
- Recieved a Playstation for my birthday in either December '98 or December '99.
- Was given a Gameboy Colour by my Gran in about 2002.
- Favourite games at the time were Resident Evil 1/3, Metal Gear Solid, Tomb Raider 1/3/4, Spyro the Dragon 1/2, Crash Team Racing, Panzer Dragoon II: Zwei, NiGHTs into Dreams, Athlete Kings, Sonic Jam, Baku Baku, Pandemonium and Pokemon Gold / Silver.

6th Gen
- Got a Dreamcast sometime in 2000, Dad stopped dealing in games and consoles, played it a lot, despite only having a few games.
- Got a Playstation 2 in 2003, played it obsessively. Got a PS2 slim for Christmas in 2005 with a copy of Resident Evil 4, I remember this well.
- Favourite games at the time were Sonic Adventure 1/2, Crazy Taxi, Grand Theft Auto III / San Andreas, Metal Gear Solid 2/3 and Resident Evil 4.

7th Gen
- Bought a Nintendo DS some time in early 2007, didn't play it much and then sold it in October 2008.
- Got a Wii for Christmas in 2007, had a lot of fun, my dad moved in early 2010 so I lost all games and access to the Wii.
- Sold my Wii to my dad so it remained in the house (cheap, I know) so I could buy a PS3 in October 2008. I bought MGS4, COD4 and GTA4 with it, was an amazing time.
- Bought a PSP in June-ish 2009, immediately hacked it and played loads of PS1 games, specifically Final Fantasy VII.
- Got an Xbox 360 2nd hand in January 2011 just so I could play Tales of Vesperia, never regretted it. Upgraded to a slim later that year in an even better deal.
- Friend GAVE me his NDS Lite in late 2011, played the shit out of Pokemon Heart Gold and Mario Kart.
- Both Gran and Grandad died shortly after eachother, was given their Wii in July 2012, slowly building the games library back up.

8th Gen
- Got a PS Vita last month in a great deal, I've just sent it in for replavement for the 2nd time. Can't wait to get it back to play P4G though.
- PS4 has woo'ed me, looking forwards to see what else they can show.

N/A Gen
- Laptop screen literally just fell off, so I got a PC and a decent graphics card in 2009 after watching Youtube videos of Crysis.
- Built a better gaming PC in May 2012, pretty darn good.

*Thanks for the template Basil.

Team 17 own the IP  the auction is for the licensing of several worms games worms 2 and a few other offshoots , THQ   licensed these games from Team17  and the bidders would need to pay licencing fees to team17.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

im not going to include handhelds as they never provide me with the experience main consoles do.

but here it goes:

Sega MegaDrive (genesis): it came with Altered beast and castle of illusion. Later i had alot of games including world of illusion, Road rash, Quackshot, Streets of rage and so on.

SNES: i didnt actaully own one of these, but my very close friend bacj then did and i was always round her house playing on it. Loved the Marios and one game that will never leave my memory and forever feel nostagic is Donkey kong 2:diddies quest (one of my favorite original soundtracks)

Sega Saturn: another fantastic  console from sega and again i had alot of games for it. One of my all time favorite games was for this console and that is Shining Force 3.

Sony Playstation: stand out moments for this console was metal gear solid and grand theft auto. but obviously there were MANY games i owned.

Sega Dreamcast: such a shame this console didnt sell well as it was such a good peice of kit, and possily the best look console released.

Sony Playstation 2:had amany many games for this and had plenty of gaming fun which set me up for the.....

Sony playstation 3: Honestly never thought id have the gaming memories that the sega megadrive(genesis), snes and sega saturn bought me, but i can say my gaming experience and memories ive collected while playing the ps3 have been really pleasant and i can see myself looking back at this gen and having the same nostalgic feeling i get when i think of the megadrive, snes and saturn days.

The biggest change for me personally is going from childhood where money was scarce and games were expensive to present day with disposable income and games are dirt cheap. Of course free time is at premium now unlike back then. Younger me would be baffled by my current "backlog" issues.
