Forums - Gaming - Your personal journey through the video game generations

First of all, this might have been discussed in a seperate thread but either the forum search is less than brilliant or I am too old to figure out how to use it properly and thus I could not find a better suited thread.

Onward to the point: I was thinking about the various video game systems I have owned and realized I have oned at least one system from each of the (generally accepted) eight generations of videogame consoles. My twisted journey of main console ownership goes like this:

1st gen : Some unknown brand pong/soccer/tennis console. Low on quality and bits, huge on entertainment value

2nd gen : Atari 2600. Were there any others in this gen ??? (just kidding)

3rd gen : NES. Achieved the ultimate in gaming glory when I once defeated Mike Tyson

4th gen : Sega Megadrive (Genesis). Possibly my favourite console I've owned

5th gen : Nintendo 64. The console that turned me off 3D gaming for a while

6th gen : PS2. Didn't care for it

7th gen : Wii. Probably my second favourite console so far

8th gen : Time is overdue for a Microsoft console, but I bought Wii U instead.

So what twisted path have you taken through the history of video gaming? The world wants to know.

6th Gen: GameCube; loved it, my favorite console. XBOX; Meh, Halo was all I cared for. PS2; Pretty good, loved Kingdom Hearts! GameBoy SP; Great console.
7th Gen: Wii; Really good console, probably in the Top 3. DS; So many great games.
8th Gen: 3DS; Really great console so far, can't wait for the games to come.

I will be getting a Wii U. (Yes, I did have all of the Big 3's Consoles in the 6th Gen. )

Thanks for your contribution, I guess my intent was to list main consoles and consoles only, not handhelds but I see now the error of my ways, thanks for your list.

You're welcome. It's sad that more people haven't posted in here...

Fourth Gen: SNES. My favorite console to date
Fifth: N64. Lots of gems on there that not many people know about
PS: RPG heaven
Sixth: GC. Had some of my favorite games ever, including my fav, Tales of Symphonia
Seventh: Wii. Loved all the hidden gems in this console too.

Handhelds: Had the gameboy all the way to the 3DS. DS is my fav so far, with GBA and 3DS not far behind.

Estelle and Adol... best characters ever! XD

Pre-Gen1: Played quite a lot on my brother's Amiga and Commendor computers. Awesome stuff!
Gen1: Got me the NES, and it was glorious! I'm still trying to beat the original LoZ...
Gen4: Played some Sega when ever I got the chance over at my sister's place. Sonic was way cool!
Gen5: AMAGAAAAD! The hype! The graphics! The 3D! N64 and PS1 was crazy good!
Gen6: I played 1 game of Mario Kart the whole gen... I mostly played strategy games on my PC
Gen7: First time I played the Wii I was blown away. Holy fuck it was good!!! Just amazing. My PC gaming continued.
Gen8: We'll see what this gen brings... Wii U seems to be the most interesting/innovative console, but PS4 has da powaaah! So we'll see...
