It's a good thing there is non bias here. So let me get this straight. Ninty/ms fans think it's a gimmick and call sony fans hypocrites and sony fans deny it's a gimmick.
Another day, another pointless (because of most people's bias) discussion.
Sony could have used the current controller and non sony fans would say that it sucks/ no innovation. Now the try something different and it's a gimmick. Is there any way in the world Sony can do something right to people who dislike the company in the first place? (and no, I'm not talking about the people who posted here).

Anything will be heralded as a gimmick now-a-days. People said the GamePad was a gimmick, people said the WiiMote was a gimmick, etc.

Agreed. I noticed that the same thing happened with wii and wiiu. From my experience wii motion controls were one of the best/most fun thing about last generation. Call it a gimmick or whatever, but it was fucking fun for most people. Whenever I see someone call something a gimmick, it is always (ok most of the time) accompanied by hostility to a certain company. It's ridiculous.

I actually agree with you and i love what Sony is doing. Its the same on all sides actually.
how do people define gimmick anyways?
motion control is a gimmick? i think it's an innovation...
glassless 3d is a gimmick? i think it's an innovation...

Is the 3D camera coming with every PS4? If so then yes its a gimmick.

Agreed. People are often so quick to jump on what Nintendo is doing, e.g. gamepad too big, don't want to look down, etc, but when it comes to Sony, the same standard is not applied. The touchscreen on the gamepad has infinitely more functionality over that trackpad, but they will easier call the Gamepad a gimmick and completely ignore the PS4 controller - it's beyond reason really.
