Forums - Sony - PS4: The Web Reacts

It's interesting that seeing the actual console is make or break for so many people. Do you think Sony is punking us? Who cares what it looks like. It's got good bones, and that works for me.

I don't think many people have any idea what they expect to see when they throw around words like 'innovation'. It' just the in thing to do. Share? Spectating? Jumping into someone's game? Whatever-MM-is-cooking-up? No interest in racing games at all, but even DriveClub seemed like a pretty fresh idea. The conference I watched last night was full of innovation.

Sony's next move should be to try to secure Angry Birds to appease the world *facepalm*.

It's all about the game.

Around the Network

"Does Sony employ any women to do presentations? The female gender was missing completely! @KaratewithaZ"

Oh my goodness. I've never noticed this before but... Sony are sexist!

The only thing that really confuses me is the PSN Plus subscription. Are they still using that network in conjunction with Gaikai? I've bought a lot of online PSN content over the years, I want that content to be available on the next Sony console.

Honestly I was hands down going to get this, but Microsoft has my attention if thats the case with Sony.

New York Times:
"New features cannot hide the fact that PlayStation 4 is still a console, a way of playing games on compact discs that was cool when cellphones were not smart."

---------

Face palm...I really can not stand media's coverage of the industry.

Nor can I, but NYT is pretty damn big and many people will be seeing this on the console and nothing else. Worrying.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Around the Network

"Really looking forward to see what the next Xbox brings to the table. More so then I did a couple hours ago. @jbarraud"

That's how I feel... From my point of view, Sony didn't show anything unpredictable or awesome that will change and innovate the way we play games. It's just more power, more of the same, and honestly we're reaching the point where "wow"ing with graphics just doesn't happen anymore. No one outside of the super core group of gamers will care about the technical differences between... say.. Crysis 2 and the new Killzone title.

I found it amusing that a Newpaper talk about something being outdated when only people I know that still read newpapers are retirees in their 70s.

Computer and Video Games:

Sony is not only responding to a world disrupted by Apple, that will only continue to fragment, but is trying to see past it; to carve its own niche. It's no small step that PS4 is being developed out of the west, and not Japan - yet even more surprising to learn that work began on it five years ago."

Confirmation that the PS4 is using 5 year old technology?

It really was a boring show. The only thing the ps4 is is an upgrade. There isn't anything special that makes you want it if you didn't have a ps3

isn't every console supposed to be an upgrade? WTF LMAO!

Some people have some very ridiculous expectations.
