Forums - Sony - I'm scared about the PS4 price.

Sony gaming division cannot afford to take a loss on each console sold, unless the Vita suddenly starts shipping 100k+ a month. Its gonna be a pricey piece of hardware, and i think MS will try and undercut them on the price which could be a big downfall for Sony.

I forget, you're head of accounting for Sony.

$349.99 confirmed ^^ a bit more if they include ssd instead of hdd ;)

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

It will surely costs something between U$ 450-500, maybe more. Remember that besides all those tech, there willl be a controller with touch-screen and a camera. After that period of low PS3 sales and now low Vita sales, Sony can´t afford to sell another product with a loss.

In my view it will be cheap. £300 (after tax) or $400. This being as there is no new expensive drive technology being put into the machine. Just more ram and cpu. Everything else already exists or is software.

Hmm, pie.

well here is some interesting news.

I was in EB Games Australia today and the place holder for PS4 is $900AUD. The PS3 sold for $1000AUD.

So I am guessing based on that it be around $499USD.

Most likely that. Glad that you found some data to base your predictions. I don´t see it less than $459USD.

I reckon the PS4 will launch for $499USD at the most, although I think they will try their best to push it to $449USD. That will make it $100 cheaper at least than the PS3 at launch. In the UK I expect a £299-£349 launch price.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

No matter what you do, you can't keep neurotic gamers happy.

For these past few months on gaf, everyone seemed happy with the oft-rumoured 4gb GDDR5 figure. It's fast, expensive RAM used on pc video cards.

A rumour popped up a few weeks ago that Sony had bumped it up to 8GB, but everyone dismissed that as crazy talk, that it would cost too much and 4gb was plenty. Now....we have 8. We also saw a camera device that may or may not be packed in with the console.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy they've done it, it really is a generational leap in tech. But how does Sony plan to sell this thing for anywhere near acceptable price?

why does the use of high end materials and technology makes the price unacceptable? if the tech is there is more than acceptable, is desirable...
what is unacceptable is to pay for trendy devices that don't pack the tech...

i think you meant affordable, in that case, we all have budgets, who can't buy it now, will do it latter, the thing will be on sale for more than 5 years... plenty of time... if you didn't mean affordable, read my first paragraph...
