That was my point.  They showed nothing about it until september of 2012.  Before then nobody knew anything about it.  And then it got hyped up.  Im sure PS4 will be amazing but I honestly believe that every console from here on out will get a lot of hype like this.  Right now the even is being hyped rather than PS4 it's self.  That is also a difference.  When it shows details about it you will see the internet blowup with information, good and bad.  Like i said im excited about tonights event but I just dont think this is exclusive to ps4.  i think all consoles will be hyped like this for a while.  In fact i expect both Nexbox and PS4 to sell through preorders quickly.  Preorders wnt show much about there futures but people will be hyped enough to preorder them quickly.

Let me use the PS3 as an example then.  Look at how many preorders it got and then look at it's first year sells.  While that wasnt too long ago, only like 7 years ago, the internet is much bigger now than what it was back then.  You saw the hype for PS3, now due to the internet expect that to multiply by 10

there is still the chance that it might end up as the disappointment of the century and the over-hyping that took place the last weeks made sure that atleast some people will think of it that way

That is not my point. My point is the exact opposite. We already knew everything about it except for how much it would cost and when you could buy it.

It was pretty much a laughing stock after E3 2012, and that didn't change (it still hasn't, actually). The only thing that changed in September is that Nintendo fans could pre-order the new Nintendo console, and - surprise, surprise - some of them did.

Leading up to the reveal of the WiiU it was hyped a hell of a lot. I dnt know if you remember any of that but yes it was.  The reveal was pathetic yes.  And it wasnt until september that they did good with it.  

Anyways I see we are going to disagree regardless.  I however expect every console to be hyped upon reveal for now on.  

Because they all have give you options for different games.  Sony has a lot of exclusive titles and a reputation for bringing new ip's that people like.
