Forums - Sony - The first info on the new service available at launch with the new PS4 console

I also have had xbl gold since it started. I now have PS+ and i have cancelled my XBL renewal for September, Sony has not disappointed me on the paid services, so if they want a few more $ a year for free games and good content then I am for it.

People pay $96 a year for Netflix, and that's just for streaming old-ass movies and TV series... If $89 a year buys me all those features which include instant game collection for 3 platforms (PS3, Vita and PS4) Cloud streaming of lots of game, cloud storage, discounts, beta invites and many other features, now that's CHEAP. In contrast, people have been paying $40-$60 for Live Gold every year just to get Party chat and online multiplayer + access to services they already pay fees for. I think those people can add 1 plus 1 and see the difference this time.

nice enhancements, and PSN says free for online play.

If it's like Netflix but with games then it will be fine.

I'm just glad the online gaming is still free since that keeps this premium service entirely optional.

I  agree with ps1 and ps2 libary i will surely sign up for that !

$89 is not alot of money if you are getting effectively PS+ and streaming of PS1/2/3 games on top. I honestly think the correct model forward for Sony is an all encompassing download and streaming package that includes games, films, tv series and music all for a monthly fee/annual fee.

Yeah you may not get the most up to date films and tv series etc, but it would be good if you got 1-2 year old films included with the monthly subscription and on top you got a core selection of premium titles only available free for that month similar to what you get with PS+.

That is the way to go....provide a Lovefilm/Netflix solution with Music and Gaming on top to create the ultimate monthly subscription service.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

Live will almost certainly increase in price, so don't be surprised.
Remember, this price will include ps+! I for one thought ps+ would be done away with, tbh. I'm glad they're keeping it.
Plus I'll also get to stream another selection of games?

Not sure I'm really that interested, though. Of course, I will get ps+.

This sounds perfect. It is even better than I expected, as I thought cross game chat would be a paid feature.

At those saying $89 a year is to high. What about the $100 - 120 a year for Netflix or Hulu? This looks to offer a selection of games for streaming, while bringing the discounts, and free monthly games that PS+ already offers.

This is one thing that has always pissed me off about consumers and Sony. Before the convergence of technology became common, Sony would put out a $800 device that delivered the full pallet. Then consumers would go out, and buy a handful of less capable devices that totaled up to $1,500, and delivered their content in worse quality.

Now that the tech has become a harder race, Sony has tried to position themselves as the best content providers. They set very reasonable prices, and even offer up competitive content providers if consumers are not happy with their offerings. Yet again consumers will be willing to pay double or more to avoid going though Sony in any way or form. It just blows my mind.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

yeah people just need to learn to see value and hidden costs.  It's just like how people who only want to play COD will buy 360s because its cheaper.  They don't realize that they'll have to pay $60 to play online so it's already more expensive.  If you bought one at launch it's already cost you about $700 to buy your 360 and play online all those years.  PSN+ has given me loads of content that I've enjoyed, like hundreds of dollars worth so I have no concern that Sony will give you plenty of value with this package.

Its annoying. Imagine the certainty of having to pay Microsoft and Sony for premium gaming. Bullshit.
