The Dual screen mechanic actually being extremely useful. For DS
Super Mario Galaxy.
The fall of the Japan games trying to be all "action-western". Japan games should stay Japanese.
Xbox live (not gold).
Online gaming in general.
Oh yeah JRPGs trying to HD graphics themselves and ending up learning that story and gameplay are ze priorities. (See Xenoblade vs FF13)

Hard question.
I guess the best thing to come out of it is that 'un-traditional' control schemes (dual screens, motion, gestures, heavy peripheral usage) can be very good and really add to gameplay for certain games/genres if done right, and served to widen the industry and it's appeal a great deal.
