| Ssenkahdavic said: JRPGs Its not the quality of the games per say, but the quantity and the quality. Feel like the entire genre just took a step backwards this gen. Without the handhelds, it would have been even worse. No new "real" Suikoden really bums me out |
tales of graces f, tales of vesperia, xneoblade, and last story are amazing JRPG's

Lost Odyssey also. Recently finished it and it's brilliant.

have yet to check out that one but i will try and pick up over the summer
(from a 360-centric viewpoint)
Mass Effect 3 ending to an otherwise unparalleled story.
Too many sales for FPS titles / Call of Duty franchise
Too little sales for JRPGs like Tales of Vesperia, Blue Dragon, and Lost Odyssey
Lack of reviewer love for Deadly Premonition (my wife's Game of the Generation. Really)
The decline of the Resident Evil franchise (5-6 were the worst of the series, and I've played most all of them)
General lack of hardcore simulation games overall - X3 was pre-gen for PC, and really unparalelled for sim games
Things I liked:
Rise of F2P gaming and all the free gaming I've done
Indie games - Minecraft, Castle Crashers, and the rest
Smartphone gaming - absolutely loving my $20 Final Fantasy Dimensions
The length of this console generation (some may hate it, but I spent $400 on a console that has lasted me 2005-current. Well, actually, I bought 2, sold one, and got my Xbox 360 for free)
Deadly Premonition
Mass Effect 1
Rise of zombie games
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

You don't think they're getting milked? There are so many...

Some are milking it, sure. But I've always loved zombie games, and some of them like DayZ are pretty darn cool. I think that the craze will eventually lead us to open-world, procedurally generated zombie breakout games (think Resident Evil in Raccoon City from day-1 in a GTA-esque world).
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
The Wii. The only Wii games with a long lasting appeal to me was Super Smash Bros. Brawl, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and the two Galaxy games. Or at least out of the games that I bought (which weren't too many, unfortunately). The lack of a new F-Zero was also a great miss.
