Forums - Nintendo - So will Super Mario Galaxy come to the 3DS remade with better looking graphics?

So do you think that the guarantee port of Mario Galaxy will come out on this Gen 3D Handheld or next Gen 3D Handheld?

This Generation 3D Console 29 38.16%

Next Generation Nintendo Handheld 22 28.95%

Iwata said that Super Mario Galaxy was a perfect game to be re-release on the 3DS but felt that it was too soon because of how new the games still where back in 2011, but now there's Donkey Country Returns 3D which was a Wii game that is now also on the 3DS.

And for the graphics, well you can compare Mario & Sonic at London Olympics on both systems to each other, and you can also compare Spider Man Edge of Time on both systems to each other, and you can compare Pilotwings Resort to Wii Sports Resort......and you will see that the 3DS has 5 times more better looking graphics visually (even though it's not literally 5 times better of course).

Anyways do you think we can expect to see Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 also come to the 3DS, now that there's Donkey Kong Country Returns?

Also who besides me would want to see Super Mario Sunshine come to the 3DS (which both this game & Star Fox 64 requires 3D to be able play without BS anyways, LOL)

Of course if it doesn't come out on this Gen Handheld, then it will come out on the next Gen Handheld for a 3D version of Galaxy.

I hope not. It wouldn't add nothing to the gameplay on the 3DS and the graphics would be worse. It would be much better to have a new game on the Mario Galaxy series for 3DS than a port of the Wii games.

Actually Mario & Sonic London Olympics has more better graphics on the 3DS version, when you see it in person.

And same goes for Spider Man Edge of Time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=aVETRohXnrg

And you can also compare Pilotwings Resort to Wii Sports Resort......the 3DS one looks much more better in graphics once again.

No, stop porting/ remaking games Nintendo. Especially ones that just came out a few years ago... 10+ year old games I can understand, but come on. Would I buy SMG on 3DS just to see it in 3D? Of course not... Graphics would not be that much different either.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

Not sure what they could do extra. Is the 3DS more powerful than the Wii?

The Wii has 729 MHz single core CPU, while the 3DS 2-core CPU is underclock at 800 MHz a core on firmware 1.0.0-0U for battery life.

And the graphics do look better on the 3DS each time.

Plus the 3DS has at least 52 shader cores with 1600 m triangles.

But it would most likely just be a port. Like Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D & Star Fox 64 3D, so maybe some extra features or a more straight forward port.

Mario & Sonic is a quite impressive game graphically, that's true. As for Spider Man, the game looks the same on both consoles, but that's because it was a 3DS game ported to the Wii. The small screen of the 3DS is tricking your eyes, while it does produce great graphics, Wii games have more geometry and higher resolution textures than 3DS games. Playing Wii and 3DS side to side you can see it quite easily, compare textures in 3D Land to Galaxy, for example, or in Mario Kart 7 to Mario Kart Wii and you'll see quite a difference. About Pilotwings Resort and Wii Sports Resort, i can't say anything, as I haven't played either.

Mario galaxy will look worse on the 3DS, only games which can rely heavily on shaders or lighting effects have much potential to look better compared to their wii counter parts (realistic games games like RE/Zelda). In terms of raw power the 3DS can't even compete with the gamecube when looking at textures and polygon count. The extremely clean look of Galaxy will be ruined by poor anti aliasing, lower res textures and possibly a gimped polygoncount. Thats not to say it will look bad, it would probably be comparable provided you're playing on the original 3DS and not 3DSXL.

PS: Spiderman is not proof of anything. The game look terrible for a wii title.

Come on now... are we really judging graphics based on Wii Sports Resort, Pilotwings, and (of all things) Spider-man edge of time?  None of those games really pushed their consoles to their limits.

The 3DS has more modern architecture, and it's a lot easier to incorporate spiffy effects with less effort, so games made by lazier (or more resource strapped) developers like Beenox for Spidey can wind up looking better.  But other games show a pretty noticeable Wii advantage.  Monster Hunter Tri vs Ultimate, Super Mario Galaxy 2 vs 3D Land are pretty notable.  Check out Lego City Undercover's draw distance, and then take a look at Mario Sunshine. Look at New Super Mario Bros Wii vs 3DS.

Not saying which is better than the other, but judging the 3DS to be more powerful than the Wii based on one second Spider-man rate game is a bit silly.

Well, the 3D effect eliminates the need for longer draw distance; my examples are Fire Emblem: Awakening & Kid Icarus: Uprising & Crashmo & Sonic All Stars Transformed & Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon 3D trailer from E3 2012 that was for download from the eShop & many more.

As far as graphics, well Mario & Sonic at London Olympics has more better graphics on the 3DS.

Plus the 3DS has over 50 shader cores which is better then the Wii & 360 in this area, and also 1600 m triangles.

Plus didn't Mario Galaxy on Wii use cell-shaded graphics for a lot of the game in combination with polygons for the rest of the game, like the textures in cell-shaded?

The Nintendo 3DS has around 50 shader cores and many other advantages way beyond that of the Wii.
