Well it seems that both 2D Mario and Mario Kart have become more popular as of late. |
It seems that way because no Pokémon game sells 20-30 million any more. But Pokémon games are released far more frequently than any Mario series. All of the main series Pokémon games on DS alone combine for over 57 million sales, more than Mario Kart's DS and Wii outings combined.
|
Well actually Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii sold around the same amount combined, and they are only 2 games compared to 5 |
What he is saying is that there is only 1 mario kart game on each system.
Meanwhile pokemon has multiple and more frequent. Thus people may skip a gen, or wait till the 3rd one comes out ect.
BUT if they want mario kart there is no other way to get it than to buy the one versoin.

That is true, but it still doesn't explain why 2 Mario Katys outsold 5 Pokemon games |
Mario Kart is more popular I assume is the explanation.
I was just trying ot explain his point of view. He basically saying if there was only 1 pokemon game on the DS, it would have more sales than any of those 5 pokemon games individually.
Now would that 1 pokemon game have sold more than either mario kart ds or mario kart wii, I don't know.
