Forums - Nintendo - Is Mario Kart Currently Nintendo's Biggest Franchise?

Pokémon is Nintendo's biggest franchise, providing we're splitting Mario up into subseries.

Well it seems that both 2D Mario and Mario Kart have become more popular as of late.

Just give up everyone. San Andreas was a PS2 game. PS2 is somehow regarded as people 'god' and can't be dethroned in anything.

You can't sell more than any of its games, they can't be better rated, they can't sell more than the console, ect.

People get so defensive whenever something on PS2 is in trouble of being dethroned. Funny thing is, it seems that Mario Kart has had this throne for a while now. It's not like it suddenly has seemingly 7 million more sold than GTA overnight.

I can't find any sources that confirms GTA:SA sales being higher than 27.5 million.

How dare you doubt the infallible Kotaku with such an impeccable track record and their anonymous source.

And anyway, we all know MKWii was heavily bundled worldwide as soon as it was released, there is no evidence pointing otherwise. It's not as if looking at Vgchartz's history MKWii was way past 27 million before the continuous bundles started.

I heard it from some website. I don't know if it's true or not!

But still, it is the best selling NON bundled game ever!

real!

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I was 2.5m off, give me a break.

It probably sold more than 30m. You can't trust kotaku.

Hard evidence proves it sold way less. Hard evidence proves you can't dismiss a game because it was bundled at the end of it's lifespan. Hard evidence proves you can't accept the solid facts proven with numbers and creidble sources.

Stop it! You are embarrassing yourself already

Nice to see we have ourselves a cushion.

So can we from now on add roughly 2.5 million to any games sales.

They "probably" all sold that many more. It's only 2.5 million. Nothing big.

Mario Kart is bundled, we get it. So are many other games. Doesn't mean that those sales shouldn't be counted just because of that. Besides, most people who bought the bundle obviously wanted MKWii or they would've gone for something else.
