PS3 controllers will work with PS4, that's been confirmed in one of the rumors. They use Bluetooth technology so you can thank Sony for that.

About Kinect, if someone doesn't want it, they shouldn't be forced to pay for it, let alone plug it in and use it. It's ridiculous.

You won't.  Kinect 2 will be included with the console.

Where Microsoft will make up the cost of the Kinect unit is with Illumiroom.

That's the problem. Why force bundle an add-on that most people will not want to use
But if this rumor is true then they took it one step further with Kinect required to even use the next Xbox. Is this some sort of DRM? What possible reason would Microsoft have for doing this?

How do you know that?  We have not seen or read about anything that 'Kinect 2.0' will do and you already say that most people will not want to use it.  You are not even leaving the possibility that they have some really cool and awesome stuff that will excite most gamers and that they'll look forward to it.  No, you're just taking a general statement from a rumor and instantly assuming it's going to be something people hate.

THIS is what I mean about premature reactions to rumors.

So how else could we respond?  How about this:  "Well if this is true, I sure hope they have some awesome things with Kinect 2.0 to justify it" or something like would be much preferred.  Instead we get meltdowns.  *sigh*

A lot of gamers don't like motion controls. Simple as that.

"A lot" != "most people"

Yes, most people. Most gamers prefer tradional controls and see motion controls as gimmicky, unresponsive..etc. I feel the same way.
You won't be using Kinect 2.0 to play Call of Duty, at best you'll be using it to give voice commands....something that almost any camera can do such as the next playstation eye.

I think you are overgeneralizing your own opinion - the success of Wii and kinect show that many ppl like motion-controls. And yes, many games can't be properly played with motion-controls. It is up to the devs to create appropriate games.

Are you sure about that? Kinect only sells during the holidays when it is being bought as a gift for someone. People obviously don't like it that much if you look at Kinect software sales. Sure, people may  have liked the Wii motion controls, but this was a selling point for the system as a whole and it didn't add much to the cost of the system. That same can not be said about Kinect. If it really will be force bundled, that is very anti-consumer IMO. People deserve to have a choice in how they spend their money. You think your average Halo or Call of Duty fan wants a Kinect? I can tell you right now, that if given a choice, they would buy a bare-bones Xbox 720 without Kinect.

Those are all gimmicks. The original Kinect already offers much of that functionality.

Kinect 2.0 is just that, Kinect 2.0. A better version of the Kinect you already have. Now, if you loved the Kinect, you'll probably love Kinect 2.0. If you didn't like the first one, you won't like the new one either.

By that reasoning, a hardware sequel to anything should only sell equal or less than it's predecessor...

Guess that would make the PS2 or Wii numbers fabricated, huh?

I'm sure Kinect 2.0 will sell 1 for every XBox 720 sold, it is force bundled after all.

Ok...we get it. You dont like the kinect rumor.....can you stop trolling a rumor? I would report you but I am not sensitive like some people lol

If anything, its used as a effortless media controller with its gestures and voice commands, especially with finding exactly what you want in the marketplace. Video chat is available too.Stop thinking kinect as a games peripheral first, its meant to further the media hub agenda first

As for games, there is the illumation thingy with the room, which looks cool. Otherwise, who cares if its needed to be plugged in for the console to work.....just plug it in and be quiet about it.

Calm down. This is a forum. This will be discussed, there will be arguments.

As for Kinect and Xbox 720, I said before and I'll say it again. Force-bundling is the worst thing Microsoft could do. PEOPLE NEED TO HAVE THE RIGHT TO PICK WHAT THEY WANT. You think games like Halo and Modern Warfare 4 will use Kinect beyond some gimmicky voice commands? I don't. Is that worth the additional $50-$100 Microsoft is forcing people to pay? I say let people decide, do a Kinect bundle and one without. This can only help sales.

About the system not being able to work unless kinect is plugged in.......you realize how stupid that is? What if someone breaks it? What if someone doesn't have room for it? What if someone simply doesn't want a camera spying on them? Your loyalty is blinding you. If these rumors turn out to be true then I will lose whatever respect I had for Microsoft.

It's included.  It's not a matter of what you want or not.  If you buy a car and it includes an automatic transmission are you really upset that your car didn't come with a manual transmission?  Sure, a manual transmission is more fun, but you can drink a cup of coffee with an automatic.

I don't think Kinect being included in the next generation is really that big of a deal because I think technically the price of it is completely subsidized with Illumiroom.    Microsoft wants every next gen to include Kinect 2.0 because it wants every next gen console to be able to support Illumiroom when it's released.  If you don't have Kinect, then you won't have a feature you absolutely need with Illumiroom.  Considering Illumiroom will be as expensive if not more than the next gen console itself, I'm guessing having one more obstacle to adoption for Illumiroom (having to buy Kinect) would be prohibitive.

There is no aversion to including Kinect with the next Xbox.  It doesn't diminish the value of the console or its functionality.  Its inclusion only adds value.

The fact that you personally don't find value in what it adds is a personal issue you have with it.  It isn't a deficiency in Kinect 2.

So that $50-$100 Kinect 2 adds to the Xbox 720 is to ensure they can get more of your money in a few years with illumiroom? Yeah, I'm sure that makes everyone feel much much better about the issue.

Again, I'm saying they won't add it to the price.  Watch.  The next Xbox and the next PlayStation will be the same price.  The Xbox will include Kinect 2 for that price.

Illumiroom is where the price will be subsidized.  That is, Illumiroom will feature a price-point where Microsoft makes a profit.  Just like with Kinect and the Xbox 360.  Kinect was introduced at a profit so it could subsidize costs.  Illumiroom will be priced so that it can subsidize costs.  Maybe not as much as Kinect did, because in and of itself Illumiroom will cost more, but Microsoft will make up the difference with Kinect 2 in the cost of Illumiroom.  I'm fairly confident of that.

Microsoft is betting on Illumiroom to be the must have gift for 2014.  In order for it to be, Kinect has to be on every next Xbox.  So, you tell me.  Would you make consumers pay for an inexpensive device if you OR would you want them to be able to easily adopt a new technology you're plan on releasing?

Me, personally, I'd bite the bullet on the system, and put my mark-up in the accessory add-on.  If you get a 20% adoption rate of the device, you're doing good.  If you get a 50% adoption rate, you've got a winner.   By the way, that puts Kinect on it's way to a winner with the 360 with about 32%.

I wish you apply that to yourself when you decide on reporting me for not trolling, but merely disagreeing with you in previous threads.....

Having Kinect with every Xbox sold creates a unified install base, same with including a standard harddrive with every Xbox, 360 having that problem this gen.

Look man, playing the "We need a choice" card is BS. Its hippie mentality and frankly it doesn't effect the games that will be made, both 1st and 3rd party. Hey if your not social enough in the real world to warrant using a Kinect, that thats your problem, not MS's.

Yes, it will affect the price. If the next Playstation and Xbox are the same price...imagine how much cheaper the Xbox would have been without Kinect included? $50-$100 cheaper that's for sure.
