they're going to go out of business. that's my prediction.

To suggest you'd get minecraft numbers is silly, especially with their "artsy" games, they're not going to appeal to as many people. Though I admit, I might be cherry picking a bit.

If they do try to appeal to the broader audience, their game design is going to have to change and then their current fans probably won't like them. Doing this is going to cause problems in development and they've already shown they're not run by financial wizards, thus my prediction.

They've established themselves as an artsy and creative dev, and their games sell on that. I'm sure publishers will see that.



So was Sony funding this game or marketing it in any way? How will thatgamecompany fare with their next release if they are on their own? Multi-platform development takes A LOT of resources and time...if a PSN exclusive got delayed 2 years....imagine how much trouble they'll have with their next game.

I'm sorry but anyone that was expecting Journey to sell any more than it did is a huge idiot. It's sales are probably huge for a psn game and if it were't for all the indy hype and it beeing a critical darling it wouldn't even have gotten half of them. And the main problem with it being a "financial disaster" was because the devs were incompetent/takeing on something much to big for them.

As good as the game may be (i haven't played it yet but i plan to get it) but expecting anything more from the game was just....

Journey was amazing, no wonder it won DICE GOTY award. TCG said years ago they would go multiplatform because they had a 3 game deal with Sony. Journey was financially successful, they just want to reach a bigger audience.

It is very much possible to be financially viable on PSN. thatgamecompany's troubles had nothing to do with PSN, it had to do with them being very creative and Sony willing to let them take their time.

Don't count on it. Ninja Theory also went multiplatform after being disappointed by Heavenly Sword, only to end up with Enslaved selling 3x less than HS.

No wonder they almost went bankrupt. Nothing to do with Playstation, the company is clearly run badly.


Yep, I think they'll have lots of problems in the future if that happens again, with publishers not wanting to deal with delays, forcing them to release a halfassed game.
