no change Ryan. i'm not sure if he's mafia or town power Role. very elusive profoo.

do i really need to explain this game when you a sound vet already knows how this goes profoo? one side (town) are essentially detectives trying to figure out who mafia is.

the other side (mafia) are here to deceive town into thinking they are mafia. and that's why i'm speaking of you having a role. i always think of you guys pulling shit out the air because of a hunch you may have about someone who may not b acting suspicious.

don't play coy mate. you know why i brought it up.

and profoo i haven't done the things i claim to have done, or tried to do effectively.

Just a bit confused. You said the mafia's job is to trick town into thinking they are [town?] (you said mafia in the bracketed space).

i used the bracket to point out whos doing what because i used the words "one side, and the other side." i could have avoided that confusions, but it keeps the conversation going. anything else?

Is that the case, or did you mean that mafia are trying to trick town into thinking other townies are mafia?

mafia are trying to get town to think that mafia are town. does that help?

And the part directly after I don't quite understand. You said you thought I was a power role because of this? Did you mean Mafia power role? And what's this about ''pulling shit out of the air? I expected that sentence to explain why you said I was a power role, but I'm not following.

most of your (the vets playing this game) conclusions for who is town or mafia is based on a hunch, a gut feeling.

i just like calling shit being pulled out of the sky.

Marcus:

No, I used the brackets to point out a mistake that I was looking for you to correct.

You originally wrote:
One side (town) is essentially detectives trying to figure out who is the mafia. (Note, these are parentheses, not brackets)
The other side (mafia) are here to deceive town into thinking they are mafia.

I bracketed the last part of the second sentence: "...into thinking they are [mafia]", because I'm asking you if you used the wrong word there. A bracket is used for a word that is subject to change or variability, as in, me asking if "mafia" should be substituted with "town".
A parentheses is used as an excerpt to provide additional clarifying information, which you used correctly.

My problem is that the sentence "The other side (mafia) are here to deceive town into thinking they are mafia." Doesn't make sense. Why would the mafia want to trick the town into thinking [the mafia] are mafia? The second problem I had with this sentence is that maybe the word "they" in the sentence was used incorrectly. Grammatically, if "they" referred to 'the town', then the word "themselves" should be used. So I'm asking what this sentence means.

Are you saying mafia are trying to trick town into thinking the town themselves are mafia? (mislynches)
Or are you saying the mafia are trying to trick town into thinking the mafia members are town? (which would indicate the incorrect word usage as the sentence should actually read: "The other side (mafia) are here to deceive town into thinking they are [town].")

"mafia are trying to get town to think that mafia are town. does that help?"

Ah ok, so you did in fact use the wrong word. Ignore the paragraphs above.

So, to put it all together, your quote reads as:

town want to find mafia
Mafia pretend to be town
That's why I said you have a role
I always think you (vets) are just pulling shit out of the sky

So....my new questions are:
1. The third sentence, "That's why I said you have a role", isn't explained by the previous 2, but you used the phrase "that's why".
'I was hungry, that's why I ate the turkey.'

The phrase, "That's why", says, "look previous for the reason why the following action took place".

But 'mafia pretend to be town' and 'town want to find mafia', doesn't explain why you said I have a role.

Worse, the following sentence, "I always think you (vets) are just pulling shit out of the sky" doesn't fit with any of the previous 3 sentences.

I just want to know what made you say I had a role? Because you think I'm town? Because only someone with a role would say "x" ?

doesn't make sense does it? well my typing is real bad as i go back and look at the post lol. now to answer your question.

fishing a bit. the reall question is when you start your investigation into who you think is town and who is mafia. how do you go about it? gut feelings, fishing, and generally catching someone up in their words. that's how you come about your conclusions, am i right?

the definition for hunch in one word is feeling, and that's all it is. hell i could be wrong about you having a power role, but until people start dieing because of them. no one truly knows right? that's the part i'm still working on. and don't tell me. i want to figure it out myself.

since the first game i've played i've thought that. i just never talked the game as i'm doing now. remeber how i went after you (mind you it was a yr. ago) just out of the blue with nothing to go on in my first game?

instead of observing, i looked to debate. but the problem with that is there was nothing to debate. why? cause there was no topic.

I just want to know what made you say I had a role? Because you think I'm town? Because only someone with a role would say "x" ?

and  zero129 says nothing of importance to me. bring me back a drink will ya.

all you can say is i'm being defensive and counter voting. well again it's not because you voted for me whether you believe it or not i couldn't care.

it's because you followed nothing that made any sense. you followed me knowing i had no defense, and couldn't turn my image around if i tried.

as mentioned by everyone that followed the defenseless trail i left behind. i was looking to be lynched by either side. i voted you because you're the main one (other then FF who hasn't posted in what feels like a day) that stayed on that trail.

maybe you should go back and read my argument as to why i did this.

The problem MDJ, is that you need to learn to guard what you're thinking.

Look from this perspective:
2 people have now said they think I have a power role. This potentially triggers the mafia into thinking I really do have a power role, in which case, they kill me at night.

Just suggesting that someone has a power role draws more attention to that person which leads to death.
Trust me, mafia are LOOKING to find a reason to kill me at night. I am a strong player. Couple that with potential power role, and I go from night 2 or 3 kill, to night 1 or 2 kill and block.

So effectively, by drawing attention to me, you've halved a strong player's usefulness....for a hunch that you really don't have any reason to think.

But I digress.

Everyone, I'm pretty sure MDJ is town.

hmmmmmmmm i'm more of a cards on the tabe person, but i'm abut out of those before i have to start reading others suspicions, which i likely won't understand because of the wording, but i'll refrain.

Look from this perspective:

yep thought about that.

Just suggesting that someone has a power role draws more attention to that person which leads to death.
Trust me, mafia are LOOKING to find a reason to kill me at night. I am a strong player. Couple that with potential power role, and I go from night 2 or 3 kill, to night 1 or 2 kill and block.

yea i've noticed that.

So effectively, by drawing attention to me, you've halved a strong player's usefulness....for a hunch that you really don't have any reason to think.

but to one person or so we are budy budy, and i don't think this conversation helped.

But I digress. hey me to.

I would much prefer to lurk to the brink of modkilling and then make an empty statement to reset the counter and then fade away once more.

Signature goes here!

I'm back people, didya miss me and my glorious insights?
Shame to disappoint, I know you've all been waiting for this, but it'll have to be a brief mobile post. Quotes and specifics to come tomorrow.

@Noctis- don't read Radish as town for his stubbornness. He votes no-lynch every single game out of principal, like Yoshiya and I vote each other or Radish.

Only small thing I think can be dealt with without quotes atm, :/ so I'll give a couple other thoughts

Yoshiya lies- I told him I'd be in Southampton all day today yesterday -.- he probably forgot though. (Hence my absence all day today)
Zero is town read. Jumping on Marcus and focusing on him is what he does everytime as town. (Yeah I know I said it was a scum tell last game- but I confused him with tabaha and dug myself in too deep.... It was a bad start.) but this is the only reason, not clearing him yet.
MarcusDJ is looking scummy to me. This was the feeling from my quickread just now. Subject to change on my trawl tomorrow when do the afore promised meaty posts. Based mainly on interaction between him and Prof, and a couple other points.
Spurge is barely posting (comparatively to the norm) only time I've see him to change his game is when he is scum. In the game with myself, spurge and tabaha as scum he made an effort to be less crazy to avoid grabbing the eye of the Zero's of the game. (Who actually comes up with some good points occasionally amongst the equally crazily bad points) He has made some good points though- so I'm on the fence. (I refute the buddying allegations btw- buddying with spurge is pointless for one, and secondly my posts say- this is a good point- but ... Therefore It isn't really valid - at least my intent anyway)
I don't like how Linkz has anointed himself the "voice for town" or whatever he said. He has repeatedly thrown in a reminder that" he is town" why keep doing that? I know why- because if he keeps saying it, and makes people think he is the mantle of town- then people will not call him for scum, at least on some level sub-consciously. If you understand what I mean? Eitherway I don't like it, scummy vibe for Linkz. Quotes coming.
That is my main reads atm. Adios, sleep beckons

So hyped for Rome 2: Total War
