Ok i havent read through the wall texts but what happened exactly?  Is that what it turned into, MSFT vs Sony?

I stated that I liked the illumi room but I've never had to worry about Microsoft when it came to entertainment as they've been nailing that since Windows. What worries me about them is still games because they are still walking out of the gen with the same couple games they walked out of last gen with alone. He twisted that statement and turned it into a Sony vs Microsoft battle.

I was just challenging comments you made.

"What worries me about them is still games because they are still walking out of the gen with the same couple games they walked out of last gen with alone."

Yeah, I'm sure you're very worried. Losing sleep over it?

Is MS really walking out of this gen with the same last gen IPs? Maybe you should go look at the list of the new IPs they put out this gen. That statement is ridiculous because its completely false.

You've made it quite clear you aren't a fan of MS's IPs in many threads so you pretend they haven't done anything but put out Halo, Forza, and Fable. Either you're playing dumb or need to do a little research.

They are still walking out this gen solely with Forza, Fable and Halo as their first party helm games which are the same games which made their way out of their first gen. Prove me wrong or stop talking.

The point is they created a good number of new IPs this gen, they didn't just rely on old IPs as you're implying. Their current gen IPs could have sequels, but maybe MS sees more potential in new IPs.

We know MS put some new studios together and has new IPs in the works. So what are you worried about? MS might create some great IPs?

I've already proved you wrong. My job is done. You just keep talking.

What is sony and nintendo walking out with that is new?  uncharted and that is pretty much it. And you are forgetting about gears.  It may not be first party but it also only appears on microsoft products.  You may say that it has ended and there may be no more gears games?  Well how do we know they are gong to coninue Uncharted?  Also god of war may be officiolly ending as well.  Bringing out new ip's and having successful series are two different things.

MSFT

Halo
Fable
Forza
Gears

Sony

Gran Turismo
God of War
Uncharted

Nintendo

Mario
Zelda
Pokemon
Donkey Kong
And im sure im missing other big time sellers for nintendo.

Im talking first party.

Sony has walked out of the gen with InFamous, Uncharted & Little Big Planet ontop of what they have. Nintendo has walked out with Xenosaga ontop of what they've already got and probably more that I am missing.

yes and microsoft has came out with plenty of new exclusives this gen as well up until the last few years.  The thing is infamous and libp are nothing huge.  lbp has been on a huge decline and infamous never was huge.  That is why you only saw me post games that has the potential of selling around 5m copies.  Sony has borught out new games yes but none of them has been as big as gears, halo, fable, or forza this gen either.  They had there already established series and then brought in uncharted.

It doesn't matter if one doesn't believe those games are huge. Sony is walking out with those franchises and investing in them because they believe they could be huge in the future. Microsoft never brought out gears, that was supposed to  be multiplat but Microsoft paid Epic to keep it exclusive. If I was to count gears for Microsoft i'd have to count Metal Gear for playstation which to be truthful I don't.

Okay, so your logic is "walking out with games" means those IPs will have sequels on a next gen platform. That hardly means Sony believes they'll be huge in the future. It just means Sony feels its financially worthwhile to keep those franchises going.

We don't know if MS will continue any of these current gen IPs. All we know for certain is there are new IPs coming. These new IPs probably have more potential to be huge than the old IPs.

The games any brand brings into the next gen are the games they believe have a future. New IP's are coming, but Microsoft generally has the same three games and the third parties provide heavy hitters for them outside of that. All brands have it.

Im not going to argue about exclusives in here but all im saying is sony is in no better situaution.  I chose system sellers but anyways we know nothing what either one is going to offer so predicting things like this is not going to go anywhere.  Any sony fan will say sony will sell more and vice versa with a microsoft fan.  Me on the other hand, i will wait until i hear more from both of them before i make any kind of sales predictions.

Naming stuff has never really been microsoft's strong suit. "Onebox"? Doesn't give the consumer any idea of what the product is, so it's no better or worse than the equally meaningless Xbox, and Wii. At least with "playstation" the consumer has some idea what the product is.

But Xbox now has broad brand recognition, so changing to Onebox is as likely to confuse as anything. I think getting the "one" concept into the name is a good idea but staying with the known name "xbox" and adding to it would be easier for market recognition and uptake.

Illumiroom will have a niche audience only. I don't see the broad appeal for people having both a high quality TV and a 180 or 360 (irony?) degree projector and front and rear image capture. The simplicity of the single piece of equipment that is kinect is lost with illumiroom. Nifty tech, but very low market penetration, a bit like 80" 4K TV.

Any screen, any time. Now that is the killer app here and it will excite the general public. And it will demand a response from the competition.

Mmmhmm...

But you don't know what MS will bring to the next gen platform. Maybe MS will resurrect some old IPs. Maybe they'll continue new IPs. A lot of fingers are crossed for Crackdown 3.

I'm not sure what to tell you buddy. It be nice if you wait and see what MS does before counting them out.
